Not Your Typical ES Motor Mount Inserts Question
Gentlemen~
My dilemma is whether or not I installed these ES motor mount inserts the correct way. Well really there is only one way they can go on. They went into a 93 civic hatch with a B18C5 heart getting ready to get stuffed in there (miss my Type R at this point). We re-used the old mounts and on the two front ones cut out the rubber part in the middle and re-used the metal bushing in the middle along with the inserts. Is this going to cause a problem having cut out the old rubber part in the middle of each front lower mount? The rear tranny mount is fine and we are not planning on cutting out the rubber but rather stuffing in those inserts when the engine gets dropped in. Thanks for your help!

You're not supposed to cut the stock rubber out...the ES works in conjunction with the stock units to make more of a solid piece.
that is what i got to thinking. both the front mounts were "ripped" (not the right word) on the rubber part i guess that means a broken motor mount?? I mean the car is 13 years old and it might need new mounts but if i can get away with just sticking the inserts in there and re-using that metal bushing then that would save $ for
there's nothing to really support the inserts, because it's not like they're shaped to slide over the mount bolt....I'm sure you could find some for free from a friend or importer
I know a lot of guys that don't even run the front mounts...just solidify the rear and call it good. It does the most for engine rock anyways

I have the ES inserts on my hatch. My stock mounts were shot. I tore out the inside of mine on the driver side. If you think about that mount is really weak even when new. I assure you the ES insert works just fine with out the stock reinforcement.
