Welding my tranny??? Will the heat damage anything inside? Please Help!
On the top mount one of the studs snapped out. ( rear ) I took it to a shop, they are gonna do it for cheaper than i was expecting. He asked me will it damage any rigs o-rings anything for the heat? I dont know much about tranny internals..
Please let me know i donr wanna f-up my gears! lol thanks for the help.
He has to melt it down and build up about 1/2 inch or a lil more. Hope this helps!

It's safer to take it apart but I've fixed my own transmission without going through all that because I got it for $25 and I didnt care if I warped it to be honest. Its still going strong. If it was on someone elses case I would take it apart.
Shelton where you been? still want my Crank? - i would take the case apart and have them weld it.
i have welded a few honda trannies for a friend on here..Not So Civic..He usually takes everything out of them..But, it is really not that hard to fix them at all..Make sure that you preheat it though..to burn out all the ttanny fluid etc, that may be caked on the outside..Aluminum welding, and grease,oil,etc..They dont play nice together..Anyways..good luck..justin..
like mentioned above, aluminum is like a sponge, i welded up a tranny a few weekds ago(customer cracked tranny case). i took it apart of course, just to be safe. heated it up before i even touched it with the tig. prep is most important.
