So I'm having my windshield seal fixed, and I have to call the car's original owner to get the insurance info on the shop that replaced the windshield (strangely, this work is guaranteed for life, so it's FREE!). Anyways, we're talking about the car, and all of a sudden he interrupts me. "Oh yeah. I forgot to tell you when you bought it. I had it chipped." "WHAT?!" "Yeah. I had a Dinan Stage II put in. I also used to have a JDM 4-1, 2.5 cat and B-pipe through amn RSR. BUt it was too loud for the wife, and I sold it all. But the chip is still in there."
So, what does this mean? I'm having trouble finding stats and specs on this chip. I mean, I had no idea!
Any help?

Hi,
A fellow DFHer had a Dinan ecu, and I believe it just raises the rev limiter and might have more aggressive timing? Probably doesn't add much power.
Have you noticed where your fuel shutoff is? I bet it's at 8600 or so...
Thoughts?

Well, I know for sure it doesn't cut off at 8200! I've had it up to about 8500 several times. I can only remember bouncing off the limiter once (I caught some air at an auto-x, don't ask how).
I don't drive too hard... Still, the original owner said it'll give me a lot more grunt down low. WHich leads me to think maybe that JDM 4-1 Type R header IS a good idea after all!
I just don't really have anything to compare it to. Will a new exhaust system open it up more? Planning on that anyway, but now, I have a little more incentive.

That's what I'm trying to figure out! I actually found a review of a Dinan Stage II on a G3 GS-R (like mine) through Google, but absolutely nothing on the Dinan site. I SWEAR the old owner said Dinan. He even spelled it for me cause I'd never heard the name mentioned in Honda/Acura circles.
I just want some specs and info on it.
Any clues?

i have the dinan chip
When i was trying to pass smog (which i wasnt) i changed the configuration of the chip to stock.
i noticed a big difference with and without it. response was alot slower. past 6k it would pull stong till redline
alot of ignorant people on this board will talk **** about the chip cause they dont know much about it
i have been able to pull on many itrs, z28's, e36 m3 and other such fast cars
the chip is good, but it did clog up my cat after 130k of hard driven miles

Do you have any original documentation on it? I read there's a jumper to bypass the chip and just run stock ECU. I also heard you have to run stock timing (15-16 BTDC) to get full effect.
I'm still not sure if it's a stage I or II, or how I can find out. I'll take the cover off when I get home and see if there's anything to see...
Like I said in my original post, I just found out this morning I had it, and I can't find any info online, so any help you guys can give would be much appreciated.
You know, I always thought it was a little strange there was no limiter at 8200...
