Default How to advance the Powerband?

Hallo,

generaly i come from the forced induction sector... and i want to build a F/I engine as well but i have a question on which you all motor guys maybe can help me.

i don't want to build a 700whp monster like a lot of the guys in the FI forum...

my goal is to use a forged B16A1 engine and try to get around 250-300whp but with the most possible powerband which is possible to make... so i thought about using some of the allmotor methods of rising the powerband (low/midrange tourqe) to reduce the effect of turbolag... yes i know that i need a small turbo for this, thats true... but my question is all about the allmotor stuff... what would you do (cams/headwork/throttlebody/cam gears etc.) to get more tourqe till 4k rpm.

Thanks for your help
Malte.

use the gt28rs, that turbo will spool real nice and quick for you. and it will fits nicely into your hp range as well. do some searchs on it, people talk about it being the turbo that is most like an n/a motor. and to throw some gnar into the mix, run some ctr cams and you should have a nice little build.

mrx,

I'm not sure if you've settled on a turbo size yet, but maybe you should look into a T3/T04E 50 trim, but with a 0.48 A/R. Obviously it will have sucky top end, but it will have a really good low end. There was one guy in the FI forums and Evans tuning forum that swore up and down that a 0.48 was just as good as a 0.63 a/r in the upper end, but the 0.48 was better at the low end.
