so here is my question, i just got a new Del Sol, S non-VTEC, i know all Del Sols are wired up for VTEC, now i wanna know what i need and how hard everything is to install if i decide to install the VTEC. I dont have the engine Type yet, havent had the time to open my hood and look at it yet. and im out of town now lol so if it help, ill post my engine type tomorow prolly :=D

Seriously, you can just "add vtec". The delsol is wired for it yes, but you need to swap your head. Search, its covered in here a million times.

Son, do you KNOW what VTEC is, how it works, why it works, and do you think its gonna double your car's speed?

VTEC is not a computer chip that makes your car go faster. It increases max HP and increases gas mileage a bit, but its a trade off still. VTEC is a solenoid that acts as a switch that changes cam profiles for more power/better MPG. its built into the top half of a motor, and you must switch motor heads to a VTEC motor head. PM me if your serious and want to know how to do this.

 

i never knew all del sols are pre wired for vtec. is that every year? that will save me from running my own wires if its true.

If running the wires is what scares you, a VTEC head swap is not for you.

 

sorry man but ive built plenty of engines and ive even fabricated my own turbo kit for my eclipse . so running wires is the least of my problems, i just never knew del sols were pre wired for vtec.

i meant that in the way of saving me time . not literally saving me from something i cant do. . oh well.

For a sohc vtec

If you want dohc vtec you need to swap the entire engine.
