get the vin/serial on both the head and the block (making sure they match, as sometimes people replace heads/blocks or mix n match)...im not sure where you can run this number..but this is what you should do..im sure someone else on here willlet you know where to run the # to get the 411 on the engine

Has the head or the block been taken appart? If there still together then the stamp is on the head above the exhaust manifold between 3 and 4.

It'll either be y80 or s80 depending on the year, but I believe ALL usdm and jdm b18 trannys are stamped likewise regardless of internals.
