Default accord 99 tuning or engine swap :S

I'm looking to tune up my accord its a 1999 model . I want to get it uo to 300 hp , its either i keep the stock v4 engine or swap it to a h22a. At the moment it has an exsaust system along with custom made headers . Should i keep tunning my stock engine or should i swap it ?

It's an I4 with a header.
What's your budget? If $$ isn't of concern, swap an H22 and boost it
Boosting the stock F23 is a viable option as well, but more potential is available in the H22.

don't listen to that crap f23 is the ****. currently building 650hp f23. 33lbs w/ 110 99'accord sedan u can so anything with a f23 that you can with a h22 and the f23 is bigger. all it is is measuremeants and clearances. as far as bolt on stuff there is more for the h22 but it is increasing every day for the f23. as far as engine control i recomend the hondata s300 and then a simple odb2 to odb1 harness.

but a s far as getting to around 300 hp, drag three makes a decent bolt on kit for the f23 with turbo, piping, and tuning hardware for aroud 3 thousand. h22 can't boost mush better than f23 unless you get it built, but if your gonna build an h22 might as well build the f23. its bigger better and you'll see them more soon trust me. besides that it fits in your car nicely being from the factory and all. h22 swap is a waste of time if you ask me, but i can be nicer on your budget for parts, but not much

I'm also building the F23 to take a lot of power, but I wouldn't say "it's the ****". So far it's been nothing but a money pit. Parts are rare and expensive. I'm doing it because I want to try out something different. If I were to spend money on building the fastest and most reliable motor I would hands down go with the H22.

Keep several things in mind.
-H22 DOHC vs F23 SOHC
-R/S ratio better in the H22 for higher revs
-Parts can be bought off the shelf for the H22

If you don't believe me try finding:
-F23 dual valve springs and Ti retainers
-F23 intake manifold
-Ram horn style turbo manifold

I'm with stinker. I built my F23 this year and it's a complete ******* money pit, but an H22 w/ boost will be a money pit also. Either way prepare to open your wallet and empty your savings account.

To the original poster, without forced induction of some sort you won't see 300 hp with an F *or* an H series motor.

I'd be very surprised if he came close to 650hp without some SERIOUS head work. The head just won't flow enough to support that much HP.

My goal is 350 HP, stock sleeves, stock head. I'd love to see closer to 400 but don't think it will happen.

You haven't looked hard enough if you haven't found turbo kits. check out http://www.dragkits.com

oh and btw $2000 won't get you 300 HP unless you do some serious bargain hunting and are very lucky w/ the bottom end. My pistons and rods ALONE were $1200

dude I have a drag kit on my 98 accord. same car.

you won't get 300 hp on stock bottom end. if you do it will destroy itself quickly.

the kit for the 5th gen accord fits the 6th gen.

it's not tuned yet w/ the new motor, but I made 242 hp/268 ft/lbs with oil boiling out of the breather filter. the car didn't make it home from the dyno. so with the new internals and strong compression it should do MUCH better than that.

pics? yeah, I have a few... hundred. what do you want to see?

I have a 1999 with the drag kit

I also have similar goals as B. Later this winter I plan on trying to push the envelope as far as hp on the stock bottom end. With some time tuning I'd like to see around the 300 range. Prior to that dyno day I plan on having my 3" exhaust on and t3/t4 57 trim on to give a bit more flow

B how many miles were on your motor when you hit the dyno? Also whats your timing map look like?

I can tell you now that unless you have a daily driver i wouldnt recomend that i would be suprised if your ringlands and pistons lasted untill you got home making that power I personally am parting together a kit and will not install anything untill i get the bottom built at the least pistons and rods its way worth it those oem sleves are much stronger than the oem pistons IMO
