Default 190hp.. ?

recently got a 99 civic ex. i was just wondering wat mods are available for me to beat some V6ers out there. i recently had a 99 passat v6. any mods like motor swap.. anything.. that would boost my hp. Or at least for now, any mods that are able to beat a 99 si? thanks

get a k24 engine with a k20a tranny and you'll beat a 99si.

Actually i had I/H/E on my y8 w/ some other tiny mods and I kept up with Si's and v6 mustangs pretty well.

As a former y8 owner I would recommend this: Turbo. You can get a good I/H/E for about $600-$1.2k and get MAYBE 12 whp OR you can turbo w/ a street legal kit for $2k and get about 30-50 whp.

Save yourself some money now and just go turbo, i wish i had.

any combination of the above bolded words.
i'd say start with a motor swap, but its all in how long you plan on keepin the car, and how much you want to spend.

u can daily drive with a turbo & have ur engine last a long time. just get a quality turbo kit & have it tuned correctly.

or u can always swap in a b or k-series. (or h )

I still dont understand why people think boost destroys engines. HP destroys engines!!! The only reason NA's don't blow as fast is that in order to even get anywhere with an NA car you have to do internal work.

If you keep your boost low, like i plan to once i get a turbo kit, then It would be no different than getting some amazing N/A I/H/E combo that significantly raises your HP. Your going to place added stress on the engine, but not to the point that you'll sacrafice a lot of reliability. Trust me, i felt the same way as you about boost but once you learn about it you understand that the only drop in reliability or life of your engine is from the amount of HP your engine makes, not whether you go boost or NA.

You want to put that down on a dyno?...now which one will win...fawk, if i say the ex has the best driver in the world and the si has the worst...who the fawk you think is going to win?....its common sense...you don't have to say...im talking about #'s

i am not a turbo guy, but a 2,000 kit will boost you up more between 50-70, espcecially with an open down-pipe
