Default I drove my friends s2k yesterday..

and i was impresssed BUT i was disappointed in one thing. why does the shifter feel so 'notchy', even if i have teh clutch pushed all the way to the gridn it "feels" likes its grinding but its not. the ITR i drove last week was much better(in terms of a smoother shift). so wahts the deal with this?

The shifter is very "direct". No rods, cables, or soft rubber bushings; therefore, you feel everything in the palm of your hand.

I dont know what the point is, but put your index and middle finger in a "V" - like a peace sign - The S2000's throw is shorter than that - but you drove one so you know that.

the point is that the transmission is right there. duh! there is no linkage because the thing is not our front right under the engine like on fwd hondas. s2000=rwd

Actually the 2002's are supposed to be smoother shifting. I know mine is smoother than the 2001 I test drove but that's not much of a control group. It could be also that it wasn't warmed up fully. After about 25 minutes (yes, that long!) the tranny is like butter. Super smooth and just sucks right into every gear. Gawd, I love this car!!

23-25% at least.

If the true HP at flywheel is 240.

I think the point of that is to give you a more direct feeling and make you feel more connected with the car. Even if that's not the purpose, isn't that what it ends up doing anyways?

actually now that i think of it, honda put out a bulletin about 2000-2001 s2k's and their shifting characteristics, and they fixed the problem in the 2002 s2k. does anyone know what im talking about?
