Another Coolant Leaking Thread. Location inside
i noticed a small pool of coolant beneath the car today. its somewhat directly beneath the air filter area. i wanna know what can cause this and what i can do to fix/replace it. i been searching for the past hour and i read about heater cores being a problem,i read about waterpumps being a problem. i read through all those threads and there were too many things to worry about. most of the time those dudes didnt describe where their leak was coming from. so im hoping my description can help pin-point something to look for. coolant level was full just two nights ago. now its an ounce or two lower than it was so im worried.
the best way i can describe the location would be:
when you're inside my passenger side seat (shotgun) with your legs straight under the glove box,the leak is somewhere beneath your left foot.

pressure test the system to properly locate leak... but it sounds close to where the heater valve is located ,, chk hoses going to and from it make sure clamps are tight ...
coolant pressure tester ,, or have a shop pressure test it for you,, they can't charge too much if any to just pressure test system and chk for a leak,,
The Hot Water Control Valve and/or its related hoses for the heater are in that vicinity. I'll scare up an illustration for you:

radiator....I would start there first since the coolant will leak down and drip from the front cross member.
You can buy a hand pump that will attach to the radiator opening and pressurise the system..

it is not the radiator,, too far upfront to where he is describing the leak...coolant from the frt beam is not go all the way to the rear

yeu.. i read his post again and he does say below air filter area so in that case u are correct,,
but then he also says from pass side where left foot might be and that is not even close .. to air filter area
So thundercat where is the leak closest to so we can properly try to pin point it ...

heater core? If it is that far back then it is most likely comming out the drain hole for a/c

I seriously doubt there's enough humidity in air (with this weather) to condense on any evaporator, let alone enough to have to drain from the case.
I'm still going with a &^%*$'d up Hot Water Control Valve as a plausible culprit.

well it was late at night and i could barely see.
but the description of it being near the left foot is as close as i can get. thats where i see the drops DROP. if you sat in the car with your legs relaxed/stretched beneath the glove box, your left foot should be around the dripping area. i also went to say : if i was standing with the hood up and looked directly at the air filter area,it'll be some-what to the RIGHT of that area. i thought in describing it that way,it'll show the SAME location. sorry man,not to mention its snowed in now so i cant see jack daniels. i really do appreciate the help. ima go clean up the snow and check now

ok heres a pic of an engine bay i found on google. i made a yellow perimeter of where i THINK the leak is coming from. i checked around there and i did see some moisture, but wasnt sure if its coolant or not. could of been the snow melting as i was tryna' dig my car out. BUT within that yellow perimeter BENEATH the car, thats where i located the drips of coolant.

ahhhhhhhh that makes it easier to diagnose,, well looking at that it could be small bypass hoses, heater hose below the distr i have seen a lot of those leak,,look closely at that one,,,,, to properly diagnose u should somehow pressure test the system,, go to a shop and have them just pressure test system and find the leak

well whatever you two are discussing, settle it,and tell me. i'll check for whatever you suggesting. i wanna locate it asap. i'll drive to autozone or pepboys and ask for that free pressure test. hopefully its just a hose that needs replacing or tightening.

if heater core had a leak you would have coolant inside the car under the dash.. heater has no association with evap drain hose

oh OK i wasn't sure since most cars have both the evap and core in the same box with a door separating them.

they wanted to charge me 65 bucks to pressure test her. DAMN,how not low on price. i didnt go through with it so
anyway,i got a picture of where i believe the leak is coming from. im sure i see anti-freeze,but i could be wrong. take a look: the yellow is the area. and the red is something i noticed moist a majority of the time. and if that piping i colored red can be a problem too,let me know.

after market hose clamp on that heater hose is a red flag...lay some paper towels under there and run the engine...hint: liquids run down hill, an old plumber told me that LOL Those style clamps don't clamp in a perfect circle so there can be leakage there and that tube that the hose goes over is easily damaged.
