Default How do you remove the rust?

I've got a rust spot on the edge of my left-rear wheel well (as I'm sure many others do), and I was wondering if anyone had any good advice on how to fix rust spots. Mine has been there for about 3 years, so maybe its too late to fix now, but is it possible?

If you want an idea of how a body shop will do it, look at my paint project thread in my sig.

Other wise for the do it your selfer, fine sand paper, or a scuff pad works good, your going to want to get every last bit off and then hit it with some primor spray paint untill you can get it repainted to look better if desired.

Since its the wheel well not many people are gonna pay attention to it. What i can recommend is get some WD-40 and some high grid sand paper, spray it and sand it down. ONce you're done get some flat black paint and paint the inside. Try that and lmk how it comes out

Sand the **** away. Usually it's very hard to get all of it out if not impossible. I tried to fix mine fender spot a few times. Eventually it became a hole. I did it all and every year it came back. Eventually I took it to someone who knew what they were doing and they had to cut it off and weld on new metal.

All these primers that say they convert rust and that all you have to do it spray are BS. The only one that I have heard that was okay was http://www.por15.com I have never tried it myself, just heard good things from people.

Honda may know mechanics quite well but they are useless when it comes to making a body that will last. That infamous rust spot has been on so many generations.

You may also look into oil spraying your car to prevent future rust. Make sure you get that proffesionally done.

hope that helps a little
cheers!

I am pretty sure he was talking about on the outside the wheel well just where it meets the bumper. I call it the notorious honda rust spot.
