OK, I am being told that I need to have an OBD II "thingy" to import my car to North America. I know it has to do with emissions, but can somebody break it down for me?

OBD2 is an acronym for On Board Diagnostics version 2. OBD2 incorporates more sensors and more controls (as compared to OBD1) to meet stricter emissions standards and other regulations.

That is a basic rundown of OBD2.

OK, so I guess that this is incorporated into the ECU along with various sensors within the auto itself correct? If this is the case, is there a diagram where these sensors are located and if so, where can I get it.

 

OK, I understand that, but will the OBD II fit the OBD I harness?

they have adapters to go obd1 to obd2 and vice versa.
