get smaller rims, i recommend 16's (the tires are alittle cheaper than 17's).
as far as lowering it, 2" - 2.5" is a good drop. remember you want the car to handle better, and if you slam it, your defeating the purpose.

i know a couple of people who run 17" with about a 40mm drop so thats bout 2 inches. yeh i want to make it handle better, and know that if you drop the car too much it can make it worse, so 17" are abit of a no no, and 16" would be better, im not really bothered bout the price of tyres as my friend can get them at trade price.

Get 16's with 205/40/16 if you want to be really low, otherwise use 205/45/16. 17's require your fenders to be rolled if you want to lower it.

Here is my 205/40/16 lowered over 2.5"...

One thing you'll want to keep in mind is availability of tires in the size you'll need. For example, 205/50-15, a size that works on Civics, has like a bagillion good tires available for it, in any compound imaginable (rally, snow, all-season, summer, race, etc.) A quick search on Tirerack (not what you'll be using, but an example nonetheless) turns up 12 tires in the 205/40-16 size. That's not much. Most of those 12 are summer tires, and the all-seasons available are crap. Again, just something to consider.

Well, if you plan on using snow tires I hope you would at least have an extra set of wheels to put them on. It sound like too much hassle to take your tires in to a shop every winter to have them swaped onto your wheels (not to mention expensive).

Anyways, I live in Vegas where it's summer all year round. 12 tires is more than enough choices (esspecially when they are from all the best brands)

Since he lives in a non-US country, I'm thinking cold Europe. I probably shouldn't be, but hey, whatever

right i live in the uk, and the worst weather i get arond my area is a little ice, and rain. over here the majority of people seem to run 17" wheels on their civic's, but at the moment im swaying towards either 16" or 17" but am still unsure, i dont have a problem with driving with summer tyres in winter, as all they gotta deal with is typical uk weather. with lowering my car up to 50mm with 17" i didnt think the arches needed to be flared out, or am i being stupid??

i was honestly dropped about 3.5 inches all the way down on ebay coils when i had my 17's.....205/40/17 actually and my fenders didnt have to be rolled and my camber wasn't off much at all
