Yes its stock.. i was also looking at it and it doesnt look like it would want to come out..

Maybe thats what the snap ring plier thing is for?

And also..why would they sell the the ball joint by itself if you cant install and take if off without the upper control arm?

Beware of your local autoparts sales person...(advance,napa,auto zone) my local advance auto change employees like I change my underpants every time I go in there I don't recognize anyone.

They may be mistaking this for your lower ball joint which are replaceable as for the upper you need to change the control arm, at least thats how it is on my 93 civic and my accord, and you might as well look in to aftermarket adjustables if you have or may be lowering your car. save you some money in the long run.

well the 88-89 civics and crx have a upper control arm that won't allow removal of the ball joint, 90-91 upper control arms, all u need to do is remove a c clip and tap it out, if i remember correctly. Its rather simple, now if they sell the ball joint seperate idk, but if they dont you might wann look into a spc chamber kit ball joint thingy.

Put your hands down your pants, check for nuts. If you have nuts walk over to your car with a bfh and smack the ball joint up or take the upper control arm out and lay in on a cinderblock over the hole and smack it. ITs simple trust me it will come out and if not get a bigger hammer and some penetrate.
