Default in the process of buyin a 2000 s2k, anything to look for?

I was wondering if there were any specific recalls or any problems that happened with the 2000 models. Im buying the car anyways, but I would like to know what is and isnt under warranty. It has 51xxx miles on it currently, and I was wondering if any of the recalls would still be in effect. thanks in advance!

I would personally stay away from 2000 or 2001, but that is just my opinion.

the spark plugs are on recall (who cares)..and I heard something about the seatbelts but I'm not 100 percent. What was the deal with the taillights??? Were they all supposedly faded or were there just obviously faded ones??

There is a seatbelt retractor recall. But it's fixed for free, so who cares? The taillights also had a recall, which I think had something to do with the seals or something, but again, another free fix. I've never had problems with my MY2000, but maybe that's just me.

The 2000-2001's were the most problematic S2000's...they also had plastic rear windows...theres also 1,000,000,000 other threads that discuss these issues all in detail, along with several more, that you could easily find if you took a minute and looked through our ever growing discussions with newbies like yourself.

Also...the 2000-2001 model S2000 had a problem with the small animal in the secret compartment, tends to smell if not cared for properly.

No...the guy just didtn want to do any homework and figured he'd just start a new thread.

Kiddo, you want to know what the problems most people have are? Clutch buzz, tail light issues, rear plastic window fogs up badly/cracks, and i know just from discussions we've had in the past, theres several others im forgetting to mention.

They arnt really recalls, they're just issues people tend to find in 2000 and 2001 models more so than others.

Now quit being such a little whiney brat...lol, grow some nuts man.

at 51,000 the warranty is already void..

bumper to bumper is 3 year/36,000

powertrain is 5 year/60,000

rust is 5 year/unlimited miles

so, at 51,000 the tail lights will not be covered.

00-01

clutch buzz, sparkplug recall, seatbelt recall, plastic window, bad speakers, and even little thing as the carpet sliding around on the driver side because of the absense of one extra anchor.

02-03

glass window, no clutchbuzz or the sparkplug problem or the seatbelt recall. tweaters.

04-05

bad thing is the clutch delay valve which kinda rides the clutch foryou to make the weak s2000 differential life span longer or in a way protect it from damage.
