get it like sand blasted, or use aircraft stripper let it sit... then wipe off paint... then, i just grabbed some random metal primer, then some duplicolor? metalcast base coat, and duplicolor blue. came out pretty nice, but ya just use any high heat paint, should work fine.

I am getting ready to open up a custom powder coating shop with an online valve cover exchange program...I can do custom graphics, candies, textures, two-tone, etc. We put a strong emphasys on CUSTOM...basically your imagination is our only limitations. I should be able to take on orders sometime after the first of the year. I plan on getting a banner on here first.

Basically here is how it will work. You go to my site, use the interactive preview to select the color(s) that you want on your valve cover, I will then pull the same valve cover that you have out of my inventory, coat it to your specs and then ship it to you (at your expense) - once you receive the custom valve cover, simply remove your stock valve cover, put it in the box and ship it back to me (I pay return shipping) and I will issue a credit for the core charge. Prices will start at $75.00 for a single standard color and go up from there with a 75.00 core charge. If you want more information email me. I have over well over 1000 colors available and custom colors can be made if we can't find one that suits your needs.

For just basic color, thats expensive...and plus shipping charges?
man...locally its like $50 starting

Craftsman is now selling a powder coating gun for a fairly decent price.
It will take some practice to get good with it...but the price is justifiable, if going by $75 or even $50 for just a valve cover...

Well the price includes, media blasting, degreasing, masking, coating, curing and packaging. It takes a few hours to do each one...plus I doubt your local powder coater can do what we can do. I will have some examples soon enough.

Cheaper isn't always better, plus look at it like this -

Wheels: you can get some Volk or Mugen wannabe's for cheap but if you want the real thing then it costs more and it is usually worth it. You can buy some knock off body kit and it might fit or you can buy a Veilside kit and be assured of what you are getting. Same thing. It isn't leaving my shop unless it is cover car quality. I am going to do a DSM valve cover, that has a black texture base, with gloss black flames and gunmetal raised letters. This is a $350-$400 job minimum and it will take me an entire day to lay it all out and get it perfect. I feel my prices are very competitive.

Don't be fooled by the home powder coating kits...there is alot more to it then just buying the gun. I have over $1000 in just the air supply...plus all the equipment and chemicals needed to get a quality piece is very expensive also. Not to mention the price of a decent oven and booth.

I will post up some pics of my work and a link to my site once I have everything ready to go.

Thanks

For just your basic powder coating, single color, masking of only the letters, $75 is high. There is even a guy on HAN that does basic colors and candies for $50 plus shipping - they look fine to me.

My rotas work just as nice as mugen wheels. Theyre round and they roll. Works great for me...I dont need super expensive wheels that are only going to get **** on being driving in the real world. I kinda have the same philosophy about valve covers...theyre only going to get dirty and really, unless its show, who's gonna see it, but you?

I dont mean to rain on your parade, its just my opinion and I'll leave it at that. No offense or anything.

You are entitled to your opinion and that is fine....no offense taken.

I know what I have to charge to be able to keep the lights on and thats what I need.

If anyone has any questions or wants more information please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thanks Again,
Eric
