Intake ? (yes i did a search)
Allright...my friend it trying to tell me to do this to my intake. Ive never heard of it being done, and my dad thinks that the air box pulls hot air from the motor to start it. He (my friend) is telling me to pull off the bottom half of my air box and it will alow more flow into the intake, but my only ? is, (my whole intake system is stock on a 97 dx hatch), will it be able to pull more air through those small tubes in the hose that runs to the airbox, and will it pulling more air dirty up my air filters more quickly, and will i even see any gians (even in sound)??? Thanks guys
I know this ? is gunna make me sound like a NOOBIE...but Ive never actually played with the stock intake, always just taken em off and put on AEM, Iceman, or something like that, but Im too poor right this minute to do that. Could someboyd post a link with pictures?? Thanks a bunch!!
Well Ricey, as I will refer to you for the rest of your life, even if you change your screen name, i will know. In order to make this highly superior intake system work you have to do a few simple things.
1. Pull your fist out of your ***.
2. Get a 10mm socket, long extensions.
3. Get a phillips screwdriver.
Okay, the bumper comes off easy as pie, depending on the vehicle, you may or may not want to remove the bumper, although it is incredibly easier to do it that way.
Then notice the large black plastic thing on the passengers side of the vehicle, yeah that's the resonator box. Find it's bolts, it probably has like 3. All 10mm. Go ahead Ricey, remove it.
Replace the bumper.
Use the phillips screwdriver or the 10mm to open the air box. Remove cruddy paper-style filter and drop in el magnifico K&N filter. There is a little plasic piece at the bottom of EG intakes, i just popped mine off, it helps, i guess.
Reassemble the whole thing and go whip your friends asses. You probably made 4-5 HP in under an hour! When they get done shitting themselves, pop the hood and show them your "stock" setup.
Congratulations Ricey, you just became the coolest guy in town.
