I'm not a painter, but I do plan to paint my own car in a few months haha. I'd definately like to see a thread on that C10, that would be a pretty damn rare thing to see.

I am a body man at one of the top shops in town and we got one hell of a worker that teaches me something new everyday

I can lay some smooth paint and clear without even needing to cut and buff it, unless you want that show finish.

I could always make my body work flat as glass but I have just recently learned a new way that has cut my time in half and makes a better result.

I dont know what kinda tips your looking for but if i have any knowledge you want to know I am glad to share.

I have done everything to minor dings to fully totalled out cars along with custom work.

My work speaks for itself if you ask anybody who has seen it.

Well maybe someone can help me out? I recently Painted my Roommates Bike with A Base Coat, Clear Coat and for some reason the clear was running like crazy? Now There are a nice amount of runs (clear coat). I know the clear is on there pretty thick, Whats the Best way to go about sanding/buffing these out?

Thanks, Eric

post up some pics if you can.

Going to have to wet sand it. Probably 600-800 to start and then finer as you go.
Keep the area your sanding drenched in water but constentley wipe off to make sure you havent broken through.
post up some pics and ill be able to give a more detailed instructions.

It runs cause you dont know how to lay it right.

Take a real small block about 2 by 4 inches and sand JUST the run with 1000-1500 if possible but they have probly sat for to long and got to hard so you might have to go down to 6-800 then hit with 1500-2000 and buff out.

Do not even touch any part of the clear that is not the run untill the run is level with the smooth clear other wise you will burn through.
Then sand out around it to level it out and buff.

must be pricey to stock all those hardeners/reducers...
I wouldn't even put house of kolor on paints available. Worst product line ever for non show/ never see the light of day cars. I've seen so many candy jobs change colors down here in florida. Pluss that crack head founder of HOK always yells at you about how his products are superior even if its "overpriced". We knocked off 1,000 bucks on a paint job to sway the customer over to hot hues instead of pureple burple or whatever the hell they call their purple candy.

Any advice on laying it right? Perhaps a Type of Gun? Tip? Or even brand of clear?

Also What do you recommend to Buff with?

Eric
