Would they totally redesign it for 2006 though and then do it again in 2007 when the cc's drop? I guess they could, it is GP afterall.

I don't think so, I thought they put in some sort of regulation a couple years back that made them all go 4 stroke.

Hayden said they haven't used the "new bike" in testing yet, so perhaps there is an updated chassis in the pipeline. He also said Biaggi and Giberneau used the "new bike" in one or two races this year, but that was the extent of it.

There isn't much that the other companies don't know anyway. At this point it's more a science of knowing where you want to stiffen and where you want to strengthen the chassis. None of them are coming up with anything revolutionary under the bodywork.

Everyone keeps saying honda has a v6. Even the other companies say they know honda has a v6 and they've had it for a while testing it. We'll see soon, its either a v3 or a v6 they've been hiding.
they've been pressing a V3 for awhile now. The current set-up works, and with the way Nicky has been riding lately, I can't help to think him and Valentino will be more of a close race next year....closer then than now for sure.
I'm in favor of the CC drop next year....what do you think?

Have any reasons why you are in favor of it?

Well, I'll discuss more when I'm not drunk. But the class is actually outgrowing the safety of the riders. Given, these men are the TOP SICKEST MOST SKILLED men on the face of the planet. However, it's clear Honda has an advantage in aspect of technogoly. HRC is no slouch in weight distrubition, use of material, solidity (or lack there of in some place) of the frame, power, and traction control. The RC211V is the sickest machine in the circuit...it's just lacking the talent to control it. Hayden has picked up the pace, but Rossi is a god. Yamaha contraced the sickest rider avavible. Valentino Rossi would be a champ on a Proton. Skill>Machine in his case. The man is the best. Plain and simple. I feel the CC drop would bring Suzuki and Kawi back into atleat contention. MotoGP this year was all about Rossi and whoever had a good Sunday. I think the drop in cubic inches would bring Kawi and Suzuki more into the picture. They may not finish any better than they do, but they would bring in a better race. Or atleast, that's how I feel. MotoGp, being the top class, should bring a close entertaining race that keeps fans on the edge of thier seats. I love Rossi, don't get me wrong. I just get tired of him toying with these riders. He teases them... gives them a few laps to gain on him, then blows by them like its a joke. I'll always be a Rossi fan. You can't deny his ability, but for the good of the sport the power decline is needed to save the others riders abilities. These guys are the best of the best. However, Rossi is king of them. Selfish, yes. For the good of the sport yes. Butttt, with that being said. Rossi is gonna run over these guys regardless anyway. So im just talkin out of my ***
Interesting perspective.
I think I'd like to see a displacement drop to make tires (and tire wear) less of a factor in the class. I guess its just because I am so sick of tires (tyres) being such a big factor in F1 and now MotoGP too (albeit for different reasons).
But, I think Rossi pwns all no matter what you do to engine size. I am a believer.

The new smaller CC bikes will have higher corner speeds then the current bikes.
So you believe that higher corner speeds will be safer for riders?

Yes. Less top speed to scrub off entering a corner and less tire-deforming horsepower being applied at exit.

Yep, as stated above. Tires are becoming a huge problem in motorcycle. Wait till Daytona..I think they need to do something in the AMA too. People fallin off at 167 mph isn't safe considering tire failure is a huge part of the problem.
Also something to think about/question I'm not sure of?
Whats the injury rate of the 250 and 500 classes? I'm pretty sure the corner speeds are up near the GP speeds.
