right now i want to keep it simple, and just try to polish the throttle body first. if that goes well, then ill try a p+p on the intake. ive done some reading up and ive found a DIY guide or 2, but im relatively new to this, so i want more input! oh yeah, i have a 3-speed black&decker rotary tool, works as good as my grandfathers dremel!

Port and polish is one of the thing that look kinda easy but, once you messed up, you'll end up getting another head/im/tb.

by all means, go yank a head off some junkyard and practice.

it's not just as simple as enlarging something, you can to plan ahead and map out everything so the tb opening will have a smooth passage to the im,etc.

you can mess with the tb all you want, but if you are looking for any gain, go hit up the head and intake manifold.

it doesnt even have to be a honda, go get some rusted up junk off some domestic, they'll sell for a 10 buck and you can practice all you want.

free hp.. the sweetest kind. ive done this one w/my 5.0 and 5.8.

whenever you get you a head to practice on (very good advice BTW) in the ports you'll be able to see the casting.. a lil ridge and lil bumps. you want to get that stuff out obviously.. dont get it uber smooth, just enough to get the casting ridges out.

also, you'll want to do something called "gasket matching". when you get confident enough to work on your own head, take the gasket, lay it on the head where its suppose to be, and trace out the inside of the gasket w/a marker. THEN, dremel away untill you match the sized of the port w/the gasket.

though really.. how much will this do? i know on some v8 applications you can get 5-10 hp.. so what, maybe 2 or 3 on a f22?

oh, and you can do the gasket matching on the intake as well.. more free hp.

I have a couple of old maxima heads I will sell to you for shipping if you want to practice on them first.

Otherwise good luck and check the j/y's you may want to practice on **** ones first because if you mess up the valve hole you're screwed.

with the stock cam in place, you aren't likely to see much gain out of a port and polish job...yes, the airflow might flow more efficiently through the head, but the valves are still opening and closing at the same lift and duration...the stock honda heads flow relatively well for the stock lift and duration...swapping out the cam might be needed to take advantage of this extra airflow...also, a relatively free flowing intake and exhaust (hence NO CAT) should be employed in order to see significant gains...

very good advice!! Go get one from a junkyard.... try to do the p+p and if it works... install in your engine.. then.... do the one you removed from the engine.... after P+P sell it and make some profit.....
BTW.... if you do your throtle body, you will need to change the butterfly too, otherwise.. your car will be idleling at 3k rpms.....
