Default Clutch and flywheel brand?

What type of clutch and flywheel does everybody use? I’m asking this because I was thinking to change my clutch kit and the flywheel too. I know ACT and Toda is one of the best brands but my budget is kinda low, so I was planning to purchase some EXEDY clutch and the racing flywheel. Anybody use EXWDY before? Are they or . Just wanted to know if they are reliable or not.

Also where do everybody purchase their clutch? Some local performance shop or online?

I've run Exdey clutchmasters and ACT. Ram *on t-5s* I liked them all with fondness for clutchmasters mated with the 8.8lb fly

I personally went with an Excedy Stage 1 clutch kit, very reliable for daily and ahem, racing, ahem situations. I installed it in my HF with a D15 Vtec and revs nice, clutch engages beautifully. As for the price I looked on the bay and for $120 bucks shipped to your door not bad at all.

**This is my own experience with the Excedy Stage 1 clutch kit, opinions will vary between the individual, but from me it gets +1

Good luck

Cool, thanks for the info guys. I also have an D15B VTEC in my 89 HF so, it should work fine.

not to steal this thread... but um, are u supposed have to let off the clutch like 6 inches before it starts engaging? cuz my friends amigo, i let off the clutch like a milimiter and it engaged, but the pedal istelf would only move like an inch total, mine moves like almost a foot total, with a better clutch does it engauge faster?

You could adjust your clutch cable to engage where you want.

Adjust your cable, I'll prolly set mine to disengage pretty quickly.

And PS: I'm buying an Exedy clutch, stock flywheel in the mail for my manual swap.

Cool guys, let me know how you feel when you install it.

I'm wondering if I should go Stock flywheel and OEM EXEDY clutch kit or EXEDY Stage 1 Clutch kit with my OEM flewheel.

BTW what does the flywheel do if its lighter?

Are F1 Racing clutch any good? I know its cheap as hell but I'm a little worry about cheap products.

Lighter flywheel = less mass the engine has to move, and since it's spinning, it's really good, cuz spinning an extra 10 is harder than dragging it.
