Default My CRX has become a neighborhood parts car

My CRX has become a neighborhood parts car.

1st break in = skunk2 shift **** (replaced with the ugliest shift **** I could find)
2nd = nothing, just unlocked doors.
3rd = compartments opened, hatch open, nothing missing
4th = nothing, unlocked doors (battery dead)

At this point I started leaving a note on my seat that read: "Please close my doors when you are done."

5th = SPARE CHANGE STOLEN, coin compartment broken off
6th = OEM Si floormats stolen (these where in terrible shape anyways)

Now I realize I do live in Chicago and this is more likely to happen given my location but 6x in 2 months? Something is up...spare change? floormats? wtf?

I installed a fake alarm LED, all this did was blink at the thief while he rifled through my car. hilarious

So after the 6th time I took a close look at the salt on the windows and noticed that there was no sign of a slim jim being used.

So keys must exist that work on more than one honda. Has anyone seen/heard of this?

That's unfortunate about the keys. Thanks for confirming.

I ordered a power lock kit and sedan handles for the doors.

Anyone have any suggestions for the hatch lock?

Replace the lock? Disable the keyhole?

Who sells replacement locks for the hatch?

would it be easier just to get an alarm with sensors? if the power lock kit would work for your car, then i'm sure you could be able to disable the key hole for the hatch, i'm just not sure how, maybe block it off.

When you say "sedan handles" do you mean no key hole? If so you may just want to change the lock on the hatch, for that day that the key-less doesn't work, just replace the hatch lock, Not sure if available for your car, but you may be able to get an "unkeyed" lock, easy to "key" yourself, put your key in, grind off excess "pins" slide on cover, install, about $15. 94

Yea..a bunch of my friends have cars/keys that are interchangeable. Funny when you go somewhere and you go to your car but its on the other side of the road, wipers half way up seat all the way back, and glove box open haha.

Wire = $3
Relay to door switch = $2
Timer circuit kit = $7
118dB siren = $29.99

"Friend" leaving you a nasty voicemail since he's temporarily deaf = priceless.

Sounds like some homeless person. With how consistently it happens, why don't you just set up an ambush for him? ****, how much do you like the car? Put a car bomb on the door pin switch and park it down the street a ways.

Lets see, your in a hurry, it's pissing down rain, you run to your car, hit the remote button to unlock/unbolt your doors, and nothing, the remotes batt. is dead or just not working. Lots of fun, if it's bolts, not even a "slim jim" will get you in, so you end up having to bust the window yourself. 94

Or just pull the window out, its really not that hard.

I would definietly replace the locks a lot of honda keys fit on other honda's. More then likely it's the same person because they know their key fits your car.

you should also know that anyone armed with your car's VIN can go to the dealership and get a key cut, most of the time without giving a registration or ID. ALWAYS cover your VIN with either a business card or some black tape. If you catch the guy breaking into your car, please beat him over the head with a baseball bat.

If your battery is dead you break in through the trunk/hatch. Obviously leave the trunk key cylinder intact, by the time they break in and climb through your car, you'll meet them with a baseball bat.

If I was a cop and I saw your car with blocked off vins, I'd shake you down. Even when they come up with nothing, cops gotta make it worth their time so they're bound to hit you up for something, if not send you to the ref to make sure you're smog legal.
