Default ebay intake

would it be ok if i bought some off-the-wall brand intake that costs like 10 dollars on ebay and throw a K&N filter on top of there? will there be much difference in performance between that and lets say an injen SRI? i'm not trying to pay like 100+ for it.

IMO, that is the best option
The expensive intakes are generally a waste of money and produce less than .5 more whp than an ebay intake.

yes that is fine, as a matter of fact it's what most people on these boards recommend doing. A piece of steel tubing is a piece of steel tubing for the most part.

the only real difference is the anodization process for the expensive intakes...the cheap ones usually are painted "chrome"...but as stated earlier, a piece of pipe is a piece of pipe...the k&n filter will go a long way though..

Ya thats what i did. There is the matter of "looking cool" though. If you want to have a nice AEm emblem inside your engine bay then its gonna cost you. But like the other guys said, a piece of tubing is a piece of tubing....

most of those are actually Aluminum, and it's not chrome, it's just polished.
