EGR Valve 89 STD
i dont know if this is right, but you have a d15b, so thats the 2 injector model. at the junkyard ive seen some dpfi with egr, and some dpfi without, usually the 4 doors are the ones with the egr's and strange that i noticed only the 4 doors with cruise control have it, i may be wrong. but my d15b does not have an egr valve. if yours has one, its on the intake manifold between the distributor and the throttle body. it looks like a little fire extinguisher
hope that helps

i found some pics hope this helps
this is off an si, but the dpfi egr is in the same location
this is off a dpfi d15b like yours, but not so great a picture. the egr is kinda just above the thermostat housing, on the intake mani
i also read that only hf's have an egr

thanks a bunch man. ill check it out tomorrow and see if i have it. (i spent $200 on it and i need it to pass smog). the guy at the goodyear who has worked on my gpas car for years said that is the reason why i failed the NO section of the smog test. thanks again.

um usually you can just take off the egr, clean it, and put it back on, dont need to get a new one, also, usually NO fail is due to bad plug wires, bad spark plugs, ignitor ect. or a bad cat. but it could be the egr...
oh man...ive failed twice already. i did a full tune up, full new exhaust system (header, cat, piping, and muffler), new injectors, and 02 sensor. after the egr i dont know what else to replace. im trying to get everything new before i try again.

did you check the timing? does your car blow smoke, cause if it does, doesnt matter what you do, its gonna fail

Not quite trye. Automatic DPFI cars also have EGR.

Ive had several auto dpfi cars and none have had EGR. I also was under the impression that the HF model was the only one with EGR. If your NOx readings are high on your sniffer test I would check ign timing. Usually running lean and having increased cyl temps will cause an increase in NOx. hth

u should go to the SPECIAL smog test only place, everyone always passes their

There are two other things that can cause high NOx - a bad oxygen sensor or a clogged/dead catalytic converter.

nox is regulated by engine load and cyl temp. above 2500 degreas we lose control. if your nox is realy high and u have a egr check it's opperating and the passages are not cloged.
i got a LX dpfi IM if u want it it's got the egr on it.

thats what the guy was asking, WHERE is the egr
if your cyl temp is at 2500 degrees, your piston would have melted

He meant combustion temps....im sure that differs from the actual piston temp. I forgot the temp at which nox forms but 2500 sounds about right.

the egr is located right next to the dizzy on the intake mani. this is also where the dpfi one is. <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by gold EF »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

yea, NO + NO2 +2200degrees = NOx

HAHA. Then, check your timing and use an gasoline additive to clean out some of the carbon buildup.
