rear spring rate

Default rear spring rate

I have been doing some searching on HT, so please don't give me the speech about searching, and i have read a lot about how if your rear spring rates are stiffer than the front, it has the tendency of the rear to come out. Well my question is, where is the midpoint between stiff rear springs and affecting handling? I am wanting a spring rate good for daily driving (i can withstand a somewhat stiff spring though) with good drag racing results along with something that will also handle pretty good because i like to have fun on backroads taking turns. I am currently thinking about going with ground controls with spring rates 380 front and 430 rear with koni shocks. Anyone wanna chime in with what they think?

For reference this is on a 1994 civic hatch with gsr swap and plan on pushing 300HP very soon.

those rates, are fine. In fact at one point i ran somthing similiar. I don't think you will have a problem with the rear-end steping out

00 gsr. 400/400 on Koni Yellows w/ GC upper mounts. Comptech rear swaybar. Has more than plenty of rotation w/ swaybar on full stiff, rather neutral on full soft. Its my daily driver, so those rates aren't intolerable. With Azenis on the car, the gf claims she needs a sports bra to ride along, but I didn't find it that bad. With Toyo Proxes 4, its very streetable, and not entirely uncomfortable, just a little stiff.

380/430 is still a rear bias, you'd need something on the order of 400/325 to get equal wheel rates with the suspension geometry (94 Civic is the same as DC2 Integra, right?), but without a stiffer rear swaybar, it shouldnt be overly tail happy or anything crazy.

so should i change to 400 and 400 just to have even spring rates even? What should i do?

its not about the direct relative difference between front and back springs. its just finding what works. and i dont believe youre at a point where the difference between 380/430 and 400/400 is going to matter.

so just get 380/430 like you were planning and try it out.
