I have a 90 DX, I got 2 motors a b18b1 and a b18a1, I was wondering which would be faster and better for my car. A b18b1 turbo or a ls/vtec turbo. Would there be problems with the high compression with the LS/vtec? and would it be easier to manage the b18b1 and can you boost higher with it?
lsvtec turbo would be faster..And you would probably make more power with less boost do the flow of the vtec head..
Check out c-speedracing.com to find out the compression ratio ..Its not to high.

lsvtec turbo = more power, but wont last, unreliable. with most turbo applications, you dont want vtec. there are even kits that eliminate the vtec lobes called "vtec killer"
on the dyno, i used to have problems tuning with vtec, yes you did get more power once you got it right, but its just one more factor you have to mess with. i say LS turbo.

Thats not true..A stock block lsvtec turbo is as reliable as a stock honda motor as long as it is tuned right, kept with in the HP limits and is not over reved..I wouldnt take it past 8,000rpm on the stock block..

not trying to be a jerk...
have you actually done this before? ive done:
ls vtec (rod bolts, main bolts, head bolts, done right) all motor 12.7-1 compression + 120 shot wet nitrous
ls vtec boost 9 lbs
b16a and b18c boost 9 lbs stock block
ls turbo only
or is this just based off what you read
the most power i made with the most reliability is LS turbo. with both my LSvtec setups, i made well over 250whp stock internals (shotpeen rods). but always, the headgasket blows. thats why i say unreliable. plus on my LSvtec all motor, i reved it 9,000rpm all day, never had a problem, always blown headgasket

Yeah I had built 2 for myself..
The 1st one I did the wrong way..Stock b18a block,Stock b16a head,GE lsvtec kit,chipped pm6..Reved to 8500 all the time and blew it up..
The 2nd one,,B18a block,arp rod bolts,balanced rotating assembly,b16a head,arp head stud kit,Ge lsvtec kit,,
And one for my friend,,b18a block rebuilt to stock but with arp rod bolts,b16a head with gsr cams,Skunk2 lsvtec kit,arp head bolts,Drag turbo kit t3/t04e..Pm6 with turboedit,550cc injectors,etc...Around 280hp on dynojet,,Rev limit 8,000rpm.Its been in my friends car for a while..**** has to have over 50,000 miles by now and he drives it every day and beats the **** out of it,,
Ive never done ls turbo though,,Maybe that will be my next..

thats cool,
i just have bad luck with lsvtec. they are strong, but mines never hold for long. i have heard of people with lsvtec over 50,000 miles like yours, but ive heard more bad things than good. so unless your willing to experiment, i say still LS turbo.
