Cleaning Engine tips? Give me some.

I have some crap on my engine, its like corrosion. I was wondering if any of you guys know how to get rid of it. Here is a pic(crappy pic and not of my car) but you can kinda see what I'm talking about.

I'm talking about the actual engine block. This is not my car, just one I saw with the same prob. This car nor my car are show cars by any means, so the wire tuck is prob not gonna happen. Somebody has to know what I'm talking about.

I can't see much on the block, but you could respray your valve cover and wetsand, refinnish your header
You have nothing to worry about though, i've never heard of blocks falling falling apart from corosion. And if it's not for looking then why does the thread title say "Cleaning Engine tips"

I've heard about some stuff called gunk and simple green that are suppose to do the trick but I've never tried them.

its actualy rust that your talking about ............ living here in ohio are motors get that you can try simple green........ gunk...... and what ever other generic **** you want to try but i can tell you this its still going to be there .............
ive actually found something that works and i mean works !!!!!!!! the only thing i can tell you is that the guy that sells it is at a flean market in jacksonville florida ........ its actualy some home made wheel cleaner with alot of acid in it and it will get the engine looking like new best stuff i have ever bought he will ship it as whell only thing is i cant find the number but if you know anyone that lives in florida maybe they can get the hook up on it for you ......... i dont know how many flea markets are in jacksonville but i do know if your comming into florida fron 95 south you will see signs for the flea market good luck ive tried tons and tons of chemicals but this is the only **** i ever found that works

when my y8 was out of my car i just kinda whiped all of it off and sprayed the whole block down with WD40. has been clean ever since

HERES a good tip,
don't go crazy with the degreaser on your painted surface in ur engine bay, it will strip the gloss off them!
Or if you do use degreaser, make sure to rinse it off asap!
