Default SNOW TIRES....

ok...

my EK has azenis up front and S0-3 poles in the back...

my EP has stock all the way around

What do you all think of this? on the EK, Blizzaks up front on steel wheels and leaving the poles on the back, because, to be honest, it's the azenis that make it impossible to drive in the snow...

And for the EP, anyone know what OE steel wheel would fit on an EP? the smaller the better, 14 would be ideal. I am thinking an accord of a certain vintage...let me know!

BAD idea. Get winter tires for snow driving, and get four of them. The problem with two winter tires on the front, and summer tires (such as the S-03) on the rear, is that the rear tires won't grip at all when it's cold or when you're on snow and ice. You'll have extreme oversteer, and your car will be unpredictable at best, uncontrollable at worst.

As noted on the Tire Rack website:

"When you put winter tires on your vehicle, always put them on in a set of four. If you were to put winter tires on only the front or rear of your vehicle, you would create a vehicle with a split personality. The traction capabilities of the tires on a vehicle play the largest single role in determining how that vehicle will react in any given situation. And with the great difference in traction capabilities between Winter tires and All-Season or High Performance tires, you can understand the loss of control when one end of the car performs very well and the other end just seems to have a mind of its own. Consider the fact that leading automobile manufacturers such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Nissan, and Toyota recommend in their owner's manuals that you install four winter tires for winter driving. By installing four winter tires, you maintain the most balanced and controlled handling possible in all winter driving conditions. It is imperative to keep the same level of traction at all four corners of the car; otherwise, the full benefits of ABS or traction control systems will be lost."

thanks. ok i ordered 4 185/60/14 Winterforces and 4 14X5.5 black steelies, mounted & balanced and shipped for $404 total from tirerack. It's a decent amount of money, but i hope they will last for a few winters!

They will last you for YEARS! Remember, you will only be driving on them for 3-4 months a year, so you won't be putting all that many miles on them. (Also, most people drive fewer miles in winter months than the rest of the year.)

You'll REALLY appreciate the winter tires the first time you get a decent snow. And they will also grip a lot better than summer tires when it's frigid cold, even when the roads are dry. Enjoy!
