92 accord trouble shooting
hey everyone,
i need to trouble shoot my 92 accord. how do i scan the car? any pics on how to do so? or diagrams?
someone answered my topic about 2 months ago and i have since lost the info he sent me (sorry). anyone ever have your accord do the following?
after 20-30mins of highway driving start to chug real badly?
and once the engine light comes on, run like a charm?
and it happens religiously, it seems whenever it gets to a certain temp or something. its like clock work. it seems like it staves for fuel.
thanx in advance for any insight to this problem

Theres a two pin connector underneath the dash on the passenger side. Just jump the two pin connector with a paper clip or something, turn the key on, and count the flashes on the check engine light.

thats the only way to pull codes i have never seend a scanner that will work on those cars! do you just want the code or do you actually want to scan the car and look at frezze data and data while driving?
ok guys we scanned the car and im not quite sure as to what to make of it. the car flashed 1...then four EQUALLY long flashes then 3 quick flashes. does this mean 53 flashes or 143 flashes? does it flash once just to let you know it is working then the codes start? then that would mean 43 flashes...am i confusing the hell out of you yet? lol so again this is how it went 1 then wait a few seconds then 1...1...1...1...then 3 quick flashes. i feel that it is a fuel problem but if it was it should be a consistant chug. any info is greatly appreciated. i am very happy with the great responses i have recieved and so quickly! thanks again guys!

Sounds like codes 1 and 43. Have you checked your o2 sensor?

so code 43 states "fuel supply system" that is pretty vague. any common problems with fuel systems on this particular car? or should i just start ripn into the injectors and fuel pressure. it has a new fuel filter in it. so you think the scans results were codes 1 and 43? man thanks alot. i will install a new o2 sensor for sure. thanks again guys!

If so, it sounds like code 10 and 43. First flash = short like last 3, then it's code 1 & 43.
1 = oxygen sensor.
10 = intake air temperature sensor.
- I don't have a '92 but it's either in the intake manifold or intake duct before TB.
43 = fuel system.
- Yes, it's vague, but fix the other thing first. Code 43 seems to be a catch-all code, where all the measurements don't add up to a reasonable operating condition. But the ECU can't always blame one particular sensor. Maybe fixing your IAT sensor might make this one go away too.

Sound like a 1 and a 43. I had the exact same codes last week on a 92. Replace the O2 sensor and do yourself a favor. Don't use anything other than Denso or NGK or I promise you will replace it again within 6 months. Don't forget to remove the 7.5 amp Radio/Backup fuse to clear the codes. If this is the original sensor, you may have to break it loose while it's hot or it might not budge. hondiscountparts.com has them for around $100.
