Default Tip for removing crankshaft pulley bolt when replacing a timing belt

providing you don't have a pulley which drives ac or power steering put two old bolts into the holes around the pulley and jam a tyre lever between them and under the lower suspension arm.
Proceed to jump on the 22"extension supported on an axel stand to undo the bolt.
This is very handy if you do not want to rip the inside of your clutch out or if you can not find anyone to sit with their foot on the brake and is much quicker than jamming the flywheel.......................................... .happy revving

Put a long breaker bar and 19mm on the bolt, hoist the bar on the ground, bump the motor. OMG everyone DIES. I got those directions from a Ford Focus website. I wouldn't advise that solution. Anyway you can't do that on hondas, anyone know why?...........They spin opposite direction, you would be tightening.

The 1/2" impact way is the only way to work.

This is the ghetto way.. When we did mine, we didnt have a compressor good enough to do it with an impact wrench, so we got an 1/2 inch breaker bar, wiht a lot of extensions, put the car in 3rd gear, held the brakes, and tried like a mother ******. We broke one of my old hockey sticks and used it for extra leverage, and had 3 people pull it down, and we got it. Then the timing itself took 15 minutes, ahha.

geese, i was able to do my B16a's crank bolt with a 19 and a breaker-bar. oh, btw, it was on a motor stand, not even in the car...

Had to change the timing belt on my g/f 92 corolla. Now OMFG THIS is ghetto. We couldn't get the crank pulley to stay in place, couldn't get to the starter to wedge the flywheel. My best friend and I took a bolt put it in 1 of 2 holes in the crank pully. Strapped a chain to the bolt then around the upper motor mount. Ok the hard part is over right? Nope, a impact driver couldn't get it of nor could a 24" breaker bar from the floor jack. So I survey my friend yard and guess what I saw leaning up against a tree?

A 12' hollow TV antenna mast.....NOW THATS A BREAKER BAR....for some reason it didn't take much effort with that much leverage
