Default The difference between F2, F3, and F4

I was wondering if somebody could explain the main difference between an F2, F3, and F4, without getting too technical because I'm new to bikes. I'm just curious because I've been looking at them on eBay. For a first bike is it worth the extra money to get an F3 or F4 over an F2? I'm assuming the F2 is slower? If so that might make a better choice? They're all 600s right?

I think this is bad *** bike for how old it is. A few scrapes don't bother me.

Here's an F4 that seems to have sold pretty cheap, or is this around normal pricing?

The F2 (1991-1994) and F3 (1995-1998) are essentially the same, except for bodywork. The F3 has a few small upgrades, such as the cartridge-style forks for the F3 (and the last year, 1994, of the F2). The F4 (1999-2000) is a whole upgrade from the F2/3. They are all 600s, but the F4 is much quicker than the F2/3.

As long as the bikes are in good condition and properly maintained, they will last a lifetime. Remember, though, the bikes will be roughly 5 to 15 years old. Even the best condition bike will show some signs of age.

If it's your first bike, try to get the one that is in the best running condition possible for your money. Aesthetics aren't crucial. You don't want your first bike to be a constant source of trouble.

Thanks I had no idea they were seperated by year. Is the F4i the same way? Meaning it has different years than the F4? Or is it special package version of the F4?

I really like the looks of the Smokin Joe from 98. It's a special edition, but it is uprgraded mechanically, or is it like any other F3?

tire size is also different, the F4 got a 180 rear tire, also they dropped some weight by replacing the steel frame with a lighter stronger aluminum frame. More "modern" front end, different gauge cluster.

im not a honda bike guy.. but im pritty possite the difference between the f4 and the f4"i" is that the the f4i is fuel injected instead of carburated... thats what the "i" stands for fuel "injection" ... but dont quote me on that haha

F4i's are different than F4's. They are fuel injected, look different, and Im sure plenty of other things (i.e. frame/brakes/aesthetics)

The only difference between the Smokin' Joe and other F3s is the paint (bodywork and wheels). Not worth a whole lot, so don't get suckered into paying more for what's essentially a pretty F3.

F4 (1999-2000)
F4i (2001-current)

I saw a Smokin Joe go for $2400 on eBay. Nothing wrong w/it but some scratches. How does that price sound?
