Default value of '96 F3

hi guys, been browsing this forum for quite some time now and hopefully will be riding soon

i found a '96 F3 with 49,000 miles and a salvaged title (supposedly from theft) but it also has a new front tire, new chain, new front sprocket, all new wheel bearings, Sargent Custom Seat, k&n filter, new battery and the plastics are in good shape

how much do u guys think its worth?

thanks

he'll probably not bite for that price but I wouldn't even bother for a price higher. I bought my superchicken for $3k with less then a 1/4 of the miles, 2 years newer, clean title, plenty of mods, well taken care of, and 3x the torque I hope you aren't feeling desperate though. Offer $1500 and he'll likely say no and say aight. Say your offer stands and wish him good luck. It's possible he'll get a sucker to buy but in the winter that's doubtful. Even in Cali... I like the mods it comes with thought.... I almost bought an f2 for cheap but I wouldn't have been happy in the long run. Was a good deal but I'm much happier with my current bike.

is it a rebuilt salvage like can be registered. or just a salvage?

isnt worth much if it cant be registered.

thanks for your replies... i might have paid a lot more had i not posted first. as for it being able to be registered, i'm not sure, but if it runs perfectly i dont see why it wouldnt be able to

assuming i can get it for 1500, should i have it checked out by a mechanic to see if the engine is actually in good condition? as i understand, 50k miles is quite high and i don't want to be spending and arm and a leg on engine work. how much do u think a check up like this could cost?

also is there any real way to find out the cause for the salvage title?

50k is high if you don't take care of it. honestly I'm tired of the stigma the people having thinking 15k is high mileage.... wtf. for a 96 I personally think that's low but that's just me. I ride a lot and basically everywhere. Just keep up with maintenance and it should run forever barring any accidents. Though I will say it wouldn't hurt to have someone check it out.

GET THE TITLE CHECKED OUT!!

find out exactly what happened.... tell the guy to go to the dmv and get a history report.... (doesnt cost that much, cant remember exact price, but if the guy is serious about the sale and doesnt have anything to hide he shouldn't have any problem with it)

buying anything that doesnt have a clean title is risky business...... just make sure u know everything about the bike....

personally its seems to me in my searching (aslo currently in a search for THE bike) that u could probably find something better with lower miles, although i do agree that if properly taken care of they can go forever as engineNo09 said, but shall we say more worth ur money..... in my searching i've seen a mint f3 w 6k miles for 3500 obo, and a beat to hell stunt f3 with 9k miles for a grand obo..... ya gotta evaluate what ur lookin for compared to what ya wanna spend.....

g/l bro

Besides getting the title chcked out, if its not registered now, you will have to pay some back fees when you register it yourself. At least thats the way it is in Cali.
