I just recently Rebuilt my motor with a new bottom end. ITs a ls vtec with a gsr head. I swapped the water pump from the old motor. I noticed that every now and then i get a ticking noise during acceleration between 2300 and 4800 . i check the waterpump and it seems to have a slight wobble to it. But is it possible for a water pump to make a knock noise? sounds liek a lifter but 100 percent sure its not

 

if it wobbles then it could be the impeller hitting the inside of the housing

if its wobbling..it needs changing anyway. Hopefully, thats whats causing the noise issuse. Good luck.
