COPIED FROM MY BUDDIES POST ON EF-HONDA.cOm
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by "AL" »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I did this mod in my 90 EF hatch. I got it all back apart and took some pics because I didn't before. Everything worked fine except the engine I bought from the last motor run always made a weird noise. Found out the main bearings where shot when I got it. I just finished them off, took out the crank to. Prior owner overreved it Im guessing, he was running a Dinan chip in his ecu. I had about 1000 miles on it. Oh well she will be brand new on the bottom end soon.
D flywheel with 8 bolt holes......hmmmm
Flywheel spacer 1/2 inch deep
Motor to engine spacer plate. all cnc machined

Diesel semi altenator pulley machined to fit as my crank pulley
Fabricated altenator bracket.
Front motor mount
Modified engine block to fit axles on to tranny

Hacked up driver side frame rail, had to do it to get engine to fit with out having to move the tranny to much. This way I can still use oem axles.

Custom crossmember, radius rods, front motor mount

Custom flywheel bolt. 1/2 inch longer than stock. (Good luck finding those)

One of a kind custom fabrication work... and U are wondering about the Lip.... ROFL.
I've seen this engine bay and setup in person, practically has to be seen to be believed, such a random combination and it WORKS!

al is the king of throwing it together to get it running though... trust me, the wiring is cleaned up, soldered, and stuff, etc etc..... i love the way al builds stuff. no bling, just function.
when modifying the chassis you should try and overlap the metal (like Honda does) and avoid butt-welding it.
you can drill holes in the metal and weld similar to stock chassis...
if this is a street car i would highly recommend doing this.

Completely custom kit.

wow that is pretty impressive. it sort of reminds me of a crazy swap that one of the people i work for did. he put a v6 from a nissan into a volkswagon vanogen using the VW transmission so he could keep the AWD.
also just wondering what the advantage to using the d series tranny is?

Becuz I don't care about the swap or fab'ing he is doing. It doesn't appeal to me or catch my eye. I was only interested in the lip and that was it. Thanks
Good Work. Cheers

Cheap, lighter, better gearing and easily available.
