Default PEOPLE WITH HID'S COME ON IN

What is the easiet cheapest way to add some HID's to the civic? Do you have to use projectors or can you run them in the stock housing? Is it worth loosing your high beams? All so what bulbs could I put in the fogs to achieve something similar in color?

What about these 2

People are going to say alot of **** about retro fitting and this and that. Me personally i said expletive everyone and got what i wanted.
Pros: I see alot better 20x's better than regular light
also i have low beam and high beam. low beam is halogen high beam is hid
I have no glare i dont think and they dont blind people like you think

Cons: I dont like my cutoff line at all its not anything like luxury cars because i dont use projectors. In my opinion the guys that retro fit their projectors cutoff line is not worth the work involved in my opinion because the cutoff line is still not as good as say an audi or 745.

Ps: i used 10k off ebay for $210 shipped https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1413126

damn, that's pretty cheap, the second auction posted...that really seems too good to be true. has to be some ugly *** glare or **** quality somewhere. sorry, im a skeptic.

i'd much rather do a projector retrofit even though it's like 4x more expensive...

you could buy the 2nd one and sale the headlights and have under $200 bucks for the set-up.

how do i not know **** about hid's. I chose 10 k because thats what I want. I wanted more color than light output. If i wanted more light i would have gone with 6k. You dont know what I know. I read every thread on hid's that honda-tech has. We have a faq page in the eg forum thats where i got all my info. I went to hidplanet and didnt want to retro fit. Like I said I am very happy with the outcome for the money I spent. $210 for hids thats a steal and they work great

obviously you don't, or you would start regurgitating numbers like 4300k instead of 6. I've been researching the hell out of HID's lately and I see hatchy posting in just about every thread. when he gets back on you're getting schooled, but I digress. with this HID kit you purchased, did you at least install some form of shield?

If anything I wont say much cause I dont know much. All I know is that I have HID setup that came with the car. I have the Xenon HID at 6000K the 97 EX Coupe I have has a 00 SI front end with clear headlights and it doesnt seem to have projectors but one thing is that losing the high beams is a big minus if you like to communicate with your high beams. Its a really good sight though that opens up. I really like it and it is very clean look also...but in reality you get for what you pay for so I wouldnt suggest cheap things...Also I dont think it blinds people friend saw me driving and said it looked nice and then I followed him diffrent angles and he stated that it doesn't blind him. HID all the way

The shields do little and take actual light visibility away. Which means they also take some of the good light.

I would say quit while you're ahead but you keep going. Everythign you've posted is incorrect information.

And I don't know how you can say retrofitted projectors don't have the light output of BMWs...because they use the EXACT SAME GODDAMN PROJECTORS....but I digress...

Yeah, that "good light" is called glare, and it blinds people. The shields prevent this glare by providing a cut-off point. See how 'streetracingthugs' top picture is blinding us... from this angle, it shouldn't be if they were done correctly.

I am not knocking retro fits at all but i would never put in the time to do it based off the fact it will never look like a sti, bmw, mercedes , and etc. Are they cleaner of course but I paid for what I wanted, thats why I just threw them in.

dude you're looking at 2 totally different perspectives and 2 totally different brands of projectors (hella, Valeo, bosch, etc). If you do the retrofit of the same projector in a different car and using the same OEM equipment, there will be no difference other than it needs to be properly aimed by the end user.

S2000 are a lot better than standard Audi projectors because of their differences in design, not the car they were mounted on....same as cheap vs. expensive tires, the performance does the same thing, but some are more specialized.

But no matter what retro fit you use it will never look like a luxury car point blank. I am with everyone in this thread. Retro is the best way to do it but not everyone has money, time or know how to do so. Or some like myself just want to throw in a hid kit off ebay and will be happy and satisfied with what he paid for.

I created a set of HIDs for my '00 Si out of some Infinity I35 bulb shields with JB welded H4 Casper Shields, and OE I35 4300K HID bulbs.
It came out very nice IMO and doesn't blind on comming traffic at all.

-I got the the whole Infinity I35 headlight housing w/ HID Ballast/Ignitor/Bulb Combo cheap on HIDPlanet.com ($250 shipped if I remember correctly)
-Pair of H4 CasperShields ($50 Shipped)
-JB Weld $4
-99-00 Civic Housings ($40)
-Gunmetal Automotive paint ($5)

It shines just like a Reflective verson HID kit found in the Lexus IS300, Early '00's Acura TL, LincolnMark, ETC.

I wanted HIDs but didn't want to FAb a Reflector setup on my Civic, Looks Trashy IMO.
I also didn't want to blind people with a $250 drop in kit.

So, It looks Stock when off....But lights up the road very nicely when turned on.

You are wrong.

You just have to either have the skills or the connections to get a good price. If you want the absolute best retrofit, check out http://www.customlightz.com. Amazing work, with a cut off just like OEM s2000 (Not surprising considering that that is what they use).

After I saw their work, everything else is just cheap, obnoxious and dangerous.

Thank god there are laws enabling police to pull over ricers with their half-assed blinding HID kits. It is like driving around with high beams on if you don't do it right. And where I grew up, you get shot at for that.

that's pretty sick dude. i've seen the IS300 projectors in a civic, not G35 yet...

you should sell that type of kit you could make some good business ya know, seems fairly cheap for reflectors (compared to jdmlifestyle's setup)
