I just want to inform everyone on here to not use paypal on ebay or whatever other services that they have, this is the second time that someone overseas have obtained my debit card number on my account and used it to get money from an atm. Luckily the bank has reimbursed me for this but it still sucks, I know I should have learned the first time but I wasn't sure if it was from paypal, now I know it is. So please DO NOT USE paypal. http://www.paypal.com

Also, If anybody has had this same problem please post it to let everybody else be informed about the shotty security system they have. Thanks, Kevin
Dont send your info out to people who say "this is paypal, we need your account numbers" and you'll have less problems. Ive been using paypal for 3-4 years with no problems.

Okay when you use paypal you have to use a bank in order to establish a full account and increase you money sending limit, and that is what I did. I provided my bank account number after a complete read up of their security system they provide. As soon as I knew it their was money missing is my account from ATM machines overseas (the reason I knew this is because they were oddball amounts such as 26.85 or 48.33 for example) and in the U.S. ATM machines only distribute money in $10 and $20 dollar denominations. I just don't want other people to go through the same problems as myself.

They can't get your money from an ATM if they only have your bank account .
I haven't had any problem with PayPal yet. To be safe, use your credit card to make transaction with PayPal. If PayPal can't get your money back, there's a big chance that your credit card will get the money back from PayPal.

True, whenever I make a purchase on Paypal I use a credit card... NEVER USE A BANK ACC. In fact, I never leave money in my Paypal acc., I always send it stright to my bank acc. so I always have ZERO balance.

ive never had a problem with paypal. i thinks its your fault for getting your account stolen. your the one that gave out your information to people who states they are paypal. when paypal says no never give out your information.
i think paypal is just like any other tool out there where if you educate yourself, use your common sense and intelligence, can be one of the best things out there and makes life a heck of a lot easier and convenient. however, i'm not saying that it isnt impossible to get scammed or to have your account be hacked, but basic mindfullness and awareness goes a long way....a very long way. i cannot count how much dollars ive already spent using paypal here on HT and on ebay over the years. many happy transactions between myself and sellers/buyers, and i couldnt have done without the aid of using paypal.
sorry to hear about what happened to you bro, but you have to be more specific in your claim as to how someone overseas got your account to use in unauthorized transactions. that should help us understand where the weak link might be or how they might have been able to get your account info if it was random or not. apparently you were on the right side if you got reimbursed by your bank. you're not helping any of us by just coming in here and saying "dont use paypal". good luck-
on a side note, if the person on the otherside of the transaction has credibility by vouches from other forum members or even excellent feedback on ebay, that is a HUGE help whenever i use paypal to transfer or receive money. but like what some other members here already suggested, using your credit card thru paypal is another safety blanket you can use to protect yourself.

The weak link is in their system, there is no way in telling who the person is that used my account, I haven't bought anything off ebay for quite so while but paypal has my account number. I don't just give my account number to anybody, I even had a hard time for giving it to paypal when I first started my account. On a side note this has happened to five other people who use the same bank as myself, in total it costed the bank (thank god) over $3,000 dollars. Whether this is my fault or not I just want people to be informed, thats all.

you had money missing from your bank account from a debit card transaction through paypal ? if you have your bank account information in there, there is no point in having your debit card information in there due to it pulls from the same thing. iv had money taken from my debit card through someone on ebay somehow. hasn't ever happened again and i got my money back from ebay plus my bank credited me the same amount due to ebay never confirming they credited me.
