Default vtec crossover for s2s1 cams

Hey Im getting my ecu chipped for my new setup - raising the rev limit, getting rid of speed cut and adjusting vtec crossover. I've tried searching but cant seem to find whats the best rpm for the vtec crossover, anyone know?

My setup: b16a1 with 2 layer HG, I/H/E, 64mm throttle body, ITR valve springs and retainers, skunk2 stage 1 cams

Thanks

...........uh, you must be getting some cheap eBay chip or something.

The only real way to know the vtec crossover is to get it tuned - it won't be the same on any vehicle.

Get it tuned and have a chip MADe or get a hondata or something. Thats the only way - otherwise you're not going to make much power at all. And don't try to raise your limiter to 10,000 like these other ricers just because you have ITR springs. Get it tuned so you can know when your motor stops making power.

Thats the only real way. If you want to be cheap and do it the way you're doing now - you're going to mess something up. Don't take short cuts. It seems like you're at the final stages of your build. Don't mess it up now.

No, I was planning on getting a custom chip made - I dont like ebay chips

I think I'll get a chip made with speed cut removed and rev limit raised to 8800 or so. Then I'll get a vafc and get it tuned.

Is there any major benefit to having adjustable cam gears with s2s1 cams?

Yes. It just helps the tuner. If you can tune the cams - thats just more potential power.

And you can't just say you're going to set the limiter to 8800 - those cams probably won't even make power that high. They're still very mild cams. Like i said before - the only way you're going to know is if you get it tuned.

You can rev to 8800 all the time if you want, but if you stop making power at 8100 - whats the point?.......you'll still get beat because you'll be revving for no reason.

Also - if i read correctly, does it say you have a 2 layer headgasket?....why the hell would you do that? The goal would be HIGHER compression...........not lower...............

Oh, and forget the VAFC - you can't tune ignition with it........get a hondata or something. Stop trying to cut corners. The VAFC is so garbage. I used to have one. Proper tuning cannot be done with it. Just fuel - for a/f ratios.

2 layer as oppose to 3 layer from factory. Should increase compression by .2

this is a low budget built and is only meant to be for fun while I built a real motor

Thin copper headgaskets don' cost that much.
But yeah i guess .2 will work. Did you try high c/r valves?

What do you mean c/r valves?

Also just because I've got my rev limit at 8800 doesnt mean i'll be revving that high, its a safe gaurd so I dont over rev. I've had no rev limit before and that was just stupid
