I am hoping to get a little insight on a few things here:
If a TV show was to be produced centering around performance(sorta broad, but help me out here) what would you guys be interested in?
What type of things would you like to see on that show? street racing, drag racing, drifting, night life in general, building motors, building cars, developing products...etc. Help me out here and give me some ideas.
Just curious to see what you all think is interesting and will capture your attention.

follow a team around the country while they race and show the true nitty gritty of racing....
capture the real essence of racing
i would love to see things like trying to swtich a tranny before the next round.... driving for days to make a race.... trust me if you ever traveled with a bunch of guys theres fun television worthy material that in itself....

I would like to see project cars from companies, what goes on in the pits, track racing of course, some footage from the members here
, inside coverage from shops/manufacturers
, maybe some night life, women
, engine building
, product reviews with testing, many more things I cant think of right now

something like a horsepowertv/extreme 4x4/drag racing mix for imports. basically start for finish. i wanna see the whole thing getting made, the build parts, and race action.
have you ever seen insomniac? with dave attel(sp?) I think something like that. Like a whirlwind week on a town with all of the racers from texas and all of the shops from texas and follow one team from texas to nj or whatever to the track and follow their progress....then stay in NJ and do the same follow a team from NJ to orlando etc. I think that would be awesome. To get to see the nightlife in different towns...all the shops...the tuners....the racers and then the drag teams and what they go through before a race.

I CANT BELIVE THIS HAS NOT BEEN DONE YET. SOMEONE HAS TO DO THIS. I KNOW IT WOULD DO GOOD. MOTOR BUILDING, TURBO PRODUCTS..........

Call me a dipshit, but I think American chopper has the best formula for interest. The work, the personalities, the events, and a little business.
As far as the content, I'd like to see the shop, personal, track, and ups and downs of a grassroots drag racer. Preferably one without any big name backing.
I don't know much about him, but Joe Simpson comes to mind as a candidate for the type of person I'm talking about. Then after all the coverage on the show, he can become Steph Papadakis and then the show can focus on someone new. lol.

i wouldnt want to gear it anywhere near a show thats on the powerblock. they try to do these "budget" builds which are way outside most enthusiasts price range. they aways throw in words like "bargain" when the part is like $2000. i know the industry promotes those shows by providing parts but really any of those cars that are built on the powerblock are very rarely "budget builds".
i agree, follow a team for an episode or 2. show the professional teams travel and lifestyle but also profile some of the smaller grassroots teams too. they deserve their spotlights too. besides the professionals arent the ones that fuel the money behind the sport.
id like some tech involved with it just to keep it real. no gay *** brake upgrades that stop your car 2 inches shorter than stock brakes either. keep it real, keep the products section with stuff that actually works and proven to work over and over. dont let corporate dollars dictate the shittier products landing on one of the project vehicles for the show.
id also interview some of the engine builders, DonF, Brad from RLZ, steve Omniman, jim justice etc. hell interview some tuners too, CAT, bubba, Tony1 and farturbo too. make it coast to coast, id like to hear some insight from any one of these guys.
for K series info go to norris, skunk2, ron from IPS. break it down into several segments but dont leave us hanging till next week for basic information.
last but not least, throw on todd (B19coupe) and especially tom (Tbone) on the show because they have done a ton of their own research on their own dollar and shared it with the rest of HT.

One thing I would like to see is proof of some of these ridiculous HP numbers you read about in Magazines. I have magazines in front of me talking about Abel's 1200 HP 3 Rotor, Christians 1400 HP Scion, Shuan's 1000 HP SRT-4, and there are more like that.. I believe Abel's numbers, but the other two, I would love to see proof of. Just because you have a turbo that can make that power, doesn't mean it happens. Hell, I can put it on my Accord, and does that mean it does? I would love to see a Pro or Am Team put there motor or car on TV on the dyno and prove it. And not just one pull and them BOOM, I mean dyno it, make the number and the go run the car. That is what I would like to see

This would be a great idea. Showing the real life of a racer. This would broaden the peoples perspective of the import scene. I think that showing that the real working of a race team would get everyone out of the mindset of the F&F. Just my .02.

Exactly. 30min show exactly like that on every event held (NHRA, IDRC, NDRA and BOTI). I'd watch every one.

I think the production is the most important aspect. Then the quality of the content and no more corny hosts. Something like an "MTV style" production with a host that people will like and pay attention too(like a jesse james type character. Someone who is not lame and is actually involved in the industry..) Then you might actually be able to get a little bit technical w/ out the avg. joe changing the channel. I also think people gotta get to know the personalities of the people racing. And there has to be drama, but that will come with good competition and maybe some "grudging" between teams.
Like Chris (direp) said you need someone invalved in the industry thats been in it for a few years, walks the walk and talks the talk. Someone with a personality and willing to share whats going on in the homefront.
Of course you need the essentials of knowing how to build a car from start to finish, this doesn't have to be somebody big but just someone with a passion for racing with a little emmotion into it. It has to be exciting and keep people on their tows to tune in every single week!
I think orange county chopper is the best display of what a sucessfull import show could be.

I'm talking about drama revolving around competition. Like the way the NFL & NBA create drama before two teams face off. You know, the struggle of each team, the trash talking, the battle and then the celebration. They can do it with drag racing.
