hmm well your list of options for any motor set up is well, virtually unlimited. I would suggest either b18c5 camshafts or even skunk2. Very aggressive cam that will def give you some more umph. If you're building the block up I would use some eagle H Beam rods just for extra durability. The stock rods are pretty tough but I'd rather be safe then sorry. I ended up throwing a bearing in my 4th cylinder and well it sucks! So while you have everything apart might as well build it right and know that ur rods reliable. CTR pistons are fine of course cuz they have a pretty high compression ratio just make sure they a for a b18 though. Just make sure the bore size is correct and your rings make a good seal.

But yea a b18 block is a great choice cuz its torquey as expletive and they are so damn cheap. I'm sure you're aware of the many VTEC conversion kits for this. What ecu do you plan on running for this? p28 is fine for this. OBD2 or OBD1? p72 is great! other then that you're in the right direction for your ls-vtec setup. You can always do the crv vtec as well. bought the same price range, b20 block is a great block but the cylinder walls are thin, so not the best choice for boosting but theres always Darton Iron sleeves! Hope it turns out great for ya.

oH YEAH should i go with the ctr or the itr

The p28 ecu will be fine for this setup and as for cams, you can do the ITR due to such an aggressive lift and duration in the lobes for VTEC. So pistons. Ur using a b18 block which is good! The b18 has a bigger bore size then a civic. hence 1.6 and 1.8L You will need to get pistons for a 1.8L not a 1.6L, they won't fit, your pistons rings wont make a good seal and you'll be fucked. The pistons will be too small and well you'll expletive up a lot of **** man! I havent really heard much of pct but if you know about them and you think they are gonna be a reliable source then go for it. When ordering make sure they are for a 1.8 and I think your compression ratio will be like 10:5:1 or maybe something a little higher. If you want to boost your ls-vtec while you're doing this you can do 8:2:1 or 8:5:1. N/A you'll want a higher compression ratio. If you do a low compression pistons w/o boosting your motor your car will also run like ****. Just a heads up on that, so now is the time you need to make a choice if you want to boost or not, you have a motor apart so this is the time to do so! Good luck with this man, glad I could be of some help

i know this is sorta unorthodox and i'm sorry i dont have any suggestions but i hope your car not only beats that dirty camaro but totally whoops his ***. prove another meat head wrong, show him that there's more to cars than just ridiculous amounts of displacement.

I would use JE pistons or Arias Pistons, both are good, as far as fitment, just look for stock 1.8L stroke. you'll be alright, and if ur N/A get ur pistons with some high Compression. I think anything over 12:5:1 is doin good for ur N/A setup. If you want to beat a camaro then ur going to have to do some extensive work! I suggest a micropolished crank, B18c5 cams, AEM cam gears for tunning, ur piston and rod setup, valve springs, lifts, and retainers, I would def consider a port and polish. What type of tranny are you doing? b16 is fine, b18c1 is gettin there and b18c5- Ls4 tranny is BEST. What type of Camaro does he have? Did he doin any work to it? Its gonna be tough for a N/A honda to beat a well tuned built Camaro, hes gonna have the torque that well, you're always gonna lack, no matter what. It's VTEC that does ur torque curve. If you built a b18b then u'd have good torque but less HP numbers, so its a give and take relationship with HP and TQ with VTEC and NON-VTEC. Best of luck to that race, if he has a built camaro you'll need it, if its stock you'll have a really good chance, hell I beat a camaro v6 5spd with my d16y8 with an AEM CAI, OBX 4-1 header and OBX Type R Catback! Stang v6's aren't **** either! As far as Location, I'm near the Albany Metro Area, bout 2 and a half hours from the City(North). Best of luck man

oh and a few more things for a nice setup

Full CAI
That DC sport header is GREAT
Hi Flow cat
HKS or GReddy cat back
SKunk2 Intake Manifold or EdelBrock VictorX
70 mm Throttle Body
AEM Fuel Rail,Fuel Pump
330cc Injectors
And a chipped ECU, I would recommend Hondata or Crome.

Hope that helps

i got a better idea, dont pay ANY attention to JayDiemB16aCivic. you dont need forged pistons and rods. use the stock ls rods, just put arp rod bolts in them, all b series have the same bore size (81mm) with the exception of the b20 (84mm). you can use the civic type r pistons, just make sure you take your rods to a machine shop and shave 1mm off of both sides of the small end of the rod. if you have money get a GREAT header like rising son97 is saying. if not a dc is probobly gonna have to do till you do get some money. if you need any other questions regarding ls/vtec setups do a search, theres several already documented setups making good power without the use of forged internals.
