I can tell you that Toyota has not contacted us regarding NHRA PRO STOCK.

So it is not us in other words.

It would be interesting to see something like that in the future....but dont forget about the rules in the class

EDIT: Toyota came into NASCAR....im sure they have at least attempted to get into NHRA Pro Stock since they already have a Funny Car Body in the Top Fuel class

From the 2005 Rulebook...

"Reserved for 2000 or later 2-door coupes or 2-door sedans(domestic and foreign) production vehicles."

The cars are already in progress and they will have a 500 cu inch toyota motor for NHRA prostock.. And it will be piloted by a very reputable NHRA Pro Stock team.

Rumor has it that Toyota's foray into drag racing hasn't ended yet. From what we're hearing, there's a very good chance that Jim Dunn and Tony Bartone could have one next season. We keep hearing there could be a Toyota Celica in IHRA Pro Stock as well. That would be a good showing for the Japanese manufacturer if Dunn decides to head over to some IHRA events in 2006.

They released it at SEMA actually. I think he is getting bored with NASCAR and now with them limiting teams he might come back to drag racing.

I believe it is a TRD V8 probably similar to the one they designed to run in Nascar Trucks.I believe the Nascar one is a pushrod V8.

What part of any Pro Stock car is from the auto manufacturer? Drop a HAMMI in there and slap a Toyota body on it and there is your Toyota Pro Stock racer.

IHRA has added the Nitro class for 2006.

The Toyota pro stock car will run the Toyota body and the 500ci. Toyota motor in the NHRA.

i think im gonna step in and clear some things up....

IHRA may drop the alcohol funny car class for the better fuel funny cars...which was also stated by someone else in here

It's a HEMI...not a HAMMI(Just backing up my fellow racers since we run one)

and this is professional drag racing...everyone here knows you arent going to find anything "stock" on these cars other than the headlights and taillights, and you wont find anything on your everyday street car that these pro stockers have.

I really hope Toyota comes into the NHRA Pro Stock field...I wanna hear all the comments when Im at the race track....

Anyone remember Jimmy Spencers comment about the Toyota trucks in the Craftsman series?

Oh ok... i just remember the rules a few years ago that the roofs had to be stock or of stock demension, but i'm pretty sure that it used to be a stock steel roof and then the rest of the car/body panels had to be built around that.
