Buy a used bike and that 954 is not worth it

um... 1st bike, previous experience? if it's your 1st bike I personally say f4i or yzf 600r are your best bets. I think anything more and you're asking for trouble unless you have a lot of self control and very good throttle control...

i say neither.
You say "i'm just looking for the cheapest bike" yet you only mentioned an overpriced used bike and a brand new ibike.
If you're looking for cheap, look for used F4is, R6s, GSXRs, or Ninjas.

What are you looking for in a bike? What's your budget?
What experience do you have?

i agree, $8k is a lot of money if youre looking for "the cheapest bike" get a '70's classic but im guessing you want a crotch rocket, in which case you could get a fast bike for 3-4k and it would be just a few years old

If you want a cheap first bike I say Ninja 500.

Except for the ninja 250's that this forum shoves down the throat of newbies. sure they are kinda fun on really twisty roads, but i rode my friends once and it cant get out of its own way on the highway/straights.

Why not finance a nice bike? If you are going to kill yourself on one, go out in style - and let your next of kin worry about the monthy payments.

werd, go with the 954, you'll easily get bored of the 600rr.
as soon as you get that 954, make sure you crack the throttle wide open so you loop it.
