Default Sacramento Raceway, Racecar BURNS TO GROUNG, NO HELP FROM TRACK!!!!!!!!!

Well it finally happened, just as I predicted it would. On November 23, 2005 a car caught fire at the end of the track and sat there and burned to the ground. The track could not do anything to help put out the fire. None of the employees knew where the fire truck was and the safety truck had NO, I repeat NO fire extinguishers. It took several minutes for the ambulance to reach the scene and there was only one fire extinguisher. By that time it was fully engulfed in flames, there was nothing they could do!!!! Had there been someone trapped in the car THEY WOULD HAVE BURNED TO DEATH. The track finally called 911 to have the fire dept. come and put out the fire.

So for all you guys that have been defending the track and saying things like "we're just lucky to have a track" or "they are doing the best they can", what do you say now? This is why I was asking people to email the track so we could get something done to protect our cars and our lives.

The employees just stood around and watched it burn, THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO!!!!

As I said, Toni plays fast and loose with our lives and this proves it!! Do not support this track until something is done. After seeing what happened I will never race there again until they have a fully trained safety crew and the proper equipment to deal with situations like this. The car that burned was a fully restored 1969 Camaro or Firebird convertible, hard to tell as it was nothing left but a burned shell.

If someone had died, their blood would be on the tracks hands for the irresponsible way that they run that track!!!

We must demand action NOW!!!!!

how can you have a race track with no emergancy personal? that has to be against the law. sac has never had their act together. its amazing that this type of thing didnt happen years ago. i remember going to CMI when it was big a few years back , and i dont remember there being any fire equipment. i wont go there again .

I was an eye witness too, but you know what, stop ranting like a little bitch on the internet boards, i will continue to support the track because you know what I DONT WANT TO DRIVE 2 HOURS TO THE NEXT CLOSEST TRACK I DONT GIVE A CRAP IF SOME STUPID *** MOTHER ****** BUILDS A CAR WRONG AND IT BURNS TO THE GROUND MAYBE IF HE BUILT HIS CAR RIGHT THEN IT WOULDNT HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE.

hows about you get off your stupid internet soapbox, and build your own track, hire some employees, get word out and see how hard it is to run a track, until then quit your ****** bitching.

i'm originally from the north bay and i used to go to sac and sears alot, so i definitely support the tracks. as for safety, i think street racing kills a lot more people and there is no emergency vehicle's out there, so. screw it. the bottom line is!!

A. don't go to the track ever again, for who is bitching about it.
B. bring your own crew and fire / safety equip..
C.go street racing and probably die or get arrested.
D. or just simply go to another track.

you negative people out there should probably just calm down

Yes, the driver stoped the car and was out waiting for help.....that never came. I know it's not our type of car, but I felt really bad for the poor guy.

I remember at at older CMI event when a local racers car caught on fire.

As quick as a safety safari could be, it still won't stop a fire from happening...or damage. This is something no raceway can prevent 100%....and it happens more than often than none.

It is really makes you think how important and helpful a little fire extigusher could be.

It's not the tracks job to prevent the fire, but it is their job to put it out as quickly as possible. The quicker it's out... the less damage. You that are defending the track must be the most retarded people in the world to defend the track on this issue.

What if he was trapped in the car? He would be dead now!!!! that's OK with you also? Do you not understand that its the tracks job to provide safety for the racers!!!!

It is shocking to me that you guys don't understand this and that it's OK that the track had no way of putting out the fire. What if it was your car and you were trapped inside? You would bedead now....that's OK also???

Hey you dumb **** Skunked... This is not complaining, this is about life and death!!! If you want to keep racing your piece of **** car at Sac raceway go ahead, I'm just trying to warn others!!

If you crash a burn I could care less....you would be doing us all a favor.

I dont get everyone, except jpf's view on this rediculous situation. It really doesnt matter if the car was a "piece of ****" --- it passed the tracks tech and was able to race there....
what if driver WAS trapped?
what if this happened closer to fans and spectators got hurt
what if it was your car-- i would deffinetly suggest more amazing pieces of top quality cars go up in flames all the time rather than junkers(any NHRA powerade event a top fuel or funny car has an explosion!!)
Forgget if this is your home track that is a joke that they had no means of stoping or even helping control a serious situation --in this tracks case itsounds like they would have a problem dealing with a stubbbed toe

There was seriously no fire truck?
What the hell?
I hope the guy sues the track for negligence.
Not that the track owes him for his burnt car, but they need to be punished for not fufilling their part of the saftey bargain... Money is the only way a lot of business owners can be convinced to change their ways.

bottem line is if you dont like a track then dont go...you will be safe if you dont go...im pretty sure there are those who will still go to sac raceway regardless...like said earlier it is much safer than street racing...all these dangers should be understood when racing, anything can happen...it could have been anyone...its basically a danger upon the sport

This is the reason why I have a 10lb fire extinguisher clamped to my cage. I had a car burn on me once. I waited 20 minutes for the fire dept to arrive. My friends that came from twice the distance got there in 5 minutes. That will be the last time a car burns to the ground while I'm driving.

R.I.P. 2002 Subaru WRX Wagon BPU+++

Things to learn from this. Be f'ing careful when doing your fuel system, be prepared, don't halfass your fuel system, have a plan for when your car DOES catch on fire, and don't rely on anyone else to save your car.

That's right...there was no fire truck. I heard peeps at the track saying it was no were to be found and I never saw it either. I went down to the burning car and the tracks "safety" (a little white pickup) truck had no fire extinguishers. there was a track official just standing there watching it burn. It's not his fault, he can only work with what the track supplies him...and in this case that was nothing!

writing this on H-T wont solve YOUR problems. Sounds like you need to take it up with the track official.
