i have stock rims and tires on my car now, and i got a set of 15" rims, and i was planning on getting 205/50/15 tires, but will they slow me down in the 1/4 from stock wheels and ires at all????? or are they the same overall diameter
i think the stock ones are either 185/60r/14, or 195/60r/14

 

Same i believe, maybe a bit larger. Shouldn't be a concern, but 14" would be better for a higher trap speed then the 15". 15" will yield better traction i would think.

I'm a man that likes grip, considering that my car is my AutoX toy.

10mm wider tires/5mm less sidewall will add surface area, allowing for more friction to the ground.

I say that the grip that you'd gain, if anything, will make you faster in the 1/4 mile.

I am going to agree with the man above me.You did say faster...that means around an autoX course too and the 205 50 15's will undoubtably make the car handle better,given you buy good tires.
