While I had aftermarket pipes on my bike, I never received any grief from police officers. Even so, I switched mine to stock recently to ensure they wouldn't have some reason to pull me over.

The only time I've ever seen a problem with exhausts is on a local canyon route, where two asshats on bikes like to pull over riders and write 'em up.

Not usually an issue with me - I've always had aftermarket exhaust on my bikes and have only been pulled over a coupla times for just noise.

Sometimes while getting written up for something else, the cops will often add modified exhaust and non DOT infractions for blinkers/mirrors etc.

I've had pipes that were slightly louder than stock to open header (turbo bike) - as long as yer not riding around like an ***-hat at 12k at midnight, you'll prolly never get hassled about it.

Having said that - I know some cities in various states have real hard-ons for noise issues.

I used to have a CF D&D s/o on my F4i, REALLY LOUD, Im honestly suprised I never got pulled over for it; but everytime I was near a cop I would drive really easy and shift at like 4k RPM to avoid it from getting too loud right near him, hah.

Not really any pipe is that loud at cruising speed. If he catchs you WOT with a D&D and doesnt get you on radar he will most likely pull you over for having a loud exhaust just so he can. Then when he pulls you over ask him why he didnt pull the harley over that rides by you as your getting a ticket

man just last week i was riding and splitting a lone line of cars going to the front of a red light... I get up there and notice a biker cop was sitting there expletive! in the lane I want. so hes starring at me and i say hi and he looks at my exhaust can and just looks with the ( i can write you up for this right now) look. The light took off and he took off like a bat outta hell, i wanted to race him but something told me not to jk

I've got the same pipes too and if you ride around like an ***, you'll get noticed and cited.

just tell the cop you'd rather have him hear you for safety purposes

Never even seen a sportbiker pulled over around here. The Harleys are 100x worse anyways as far as volume goes, and I've never seen one of them pulled over here either.

my superhawk has loud as erion pipes and full exhaust. no baffles. Not had a problem so far but I don't exactly rev it with cops nearby. I rode with my bro who has a shadow with custom pipes that are mad loud and we never got grief... at least yet

Chitownrida if you are going to be putting an MCM on a 600 it is most likely going to be very loud. If you go on their website you can see they sell extra fiberglass packing for them. If you stuffed more in their you could probably make it quieter. Try it out and let us know.

I started mine with no pipes when I was putting on my Satos, holy fak it was loud. It kinda reminded me of MotoGP at Laguna this year though

akra's have a nice mellow drone to them, the cans on the sato's are short resulting in a louder tone, I'd say around 115+ db's. Sound is measured in pressure and not necessarily what hurts your ears. So, a high rev'ing bike with a loud exhaust may have a higher decibel reading when compared to a lower rev'ing bike with a loud exhaust.
