Default Will a new head unit make my keyless entry no longer work?

I have a 1998 civic EX vtec-II
the owners manuel says that if a non honda radio is installed that the keyless entry will no longer work.

is that correct? and if it is, is there any way around it?

I want a new cd player and my keyless entry to work.

Well yes and no. If all you do is put a new radio in then the keyless won't work. Now you can relocate the radio under the center console and then install the aftermarket radio and you will be fine. Metra makes a harness for this exact purpose.

yes you will lose the keyless if you take the factory radio out....metra makes a harness to relocate the radio

wow, you all are fast to answer.

i have a wire ran under my seat that looks like it is for the harness. i'll try it. it might be it because i think that the person before me had an after marked cdplayer installed.

I know alot about soundsystems, i just wanted to ask before i do alot of work and have to take it back out to do something.

thaks

Here's an even better one, install an aftermarket alarm and connect the door locks to it, when you pull the oem HU all you are loosing is the RF section, the power door lock system is still in the car, you can even just install an inexpensive key less entry unit, if you don't want to go with the alarm, however if you do not want the above you will have to use the "T" harness adpt. and mount oem HU behind the dash as mentioned above. 94
