First off..I'm not a nascar fan but I came across this video and thought I would share it. Very very VERY lucky driver. He should count his blessings!

Not Waltrip - a different Mike. He hit the wall where it has a gate and essentially used the corner of it to open his car like a big sardine can.

it's insane to see him walk out of a crash like that.

 

Waltrip had a very similar crash several years ago. After that, the track owners installed a heavily reinforced crossover gate...and the rumor was that the track workers didn't properly secure that gate when this other cat hit it . Scary, especially when the second car smashed in to that pile of tubing that used to be a car!
