Default Difference between D16Z6 and D16Y8 Pistons

Over the winter/early spring months I am going to be building up my spare D16Z6 block with forged internals so I can boost the **** out of it.

There is only one local performance shop around here. I was talking to the owner and he said he had a set of SRP Y8 pistons he bought for his old setup, but it turns out that he doesn't need them since he swapped to an H22.

He offered to sell them to me cheap, but I want to know if they will work without major changes to my block.

The will drop right in. Compression will be a little less in the Z6 than the Y8, but not by much.

So if the compression is for 9:1 on the Y8 pistons they will be somewhere in the high 8s when I put them into my Z6?

Thanks a lot for the fast response.

NP -

Actually, I may have gotten that wrong.

Looks like a stock Z6 block/head with Y8 pistons nets .07 more compression than with the stock Z6 pistons.

Sorry about getting that wrong -

That's cool man. I'm not too concerned about a small up in compression. I just figure this is a good chance for me to get a great deal on a brand new set of pistons.
