i have to change the moonroof glass in my 92 Si hatch, how do u take the glass out? do u have to remove the headliner? i have a helms here but i cant seem to find it cause its on the computer :S

yea remove the headliner

 

Remove the headliner and you will most likely have to remove the entire sunroof. Don't worry, its not that hard at all.

 

ok just got done takng it out, there was 3 allen key bolts on each side holding it on. i guess its easiest to take the whole thing out. but it was still a bitch to get it out and i had to bend the rails and everything to get at the last bolt(closest to the front of the car) any ideas on how to put this in my car now so that i dont expletive everything up totally? i dont want to have to go through this again... it was a bitch.

in the helms manual it says there is plastic clips and then screws under that and it was totally different than what we seen today, can somebody post up teh page on how to do it please? then i can take a good look at the CORRET info

Maybe I'm missing something here, but all you're needing to change is just the piece of glass, right? If that's the case, why are you pulling the rails and everything out? Those three little hex head screws on each side come out and the glass just comes right out of the frame. You have to put it in like the vent position or open a bit past it to get to them all, but you can def get the glass out w/o removing the headliner.... I've done it several times. Watch out tho.... behind those hex head screws are shims that depending on how you flip them and where you put them, are used to align the height of your sunroof. I do have the 92 factory service manual, but I have no way to scan it in . If you need some tips, let me know.... I've had mine apart several times, plus I've got a parts car to go look at if need be

thanks for the suggestion. i think where we ran into trouble is that there was no motor in the car and the sunroof was closed and we couldnt get power to it to open it or put it in the vent position. i didnt see the shims tho.... ill make sure to keep an eye out when i try to put it in my car.

i have a stupid question... i never had a 5th gen with a sunroof, does it open outside and slide back? or does it slide under the roof, if u know what i mean..
