Any updates from PRI
SCRANTON has a new Toyota Solara for PRO RWD and Ara Arslanian is now in charge of race operations for AEM and will be driving the AEM CIVIC that STEPH P drove.

I thought he was just doing the dragster next year and building a new Solara for 2007... That is what I get for thinking.

I honestly think the dragster class is done before it even got started to be honest.
Cause i'm pretty sure Don NaseJr. might be building something 10.5 tire-ish

Dont quote me on that... thats just how i feel. knowing and seeing what other people are building and doing for the next year, like you said...could possibly be a waste of money. but one thing for sure. the definitly can run comp eliminator or top dragster classes.
Nase is going forward with the dragster. Matt's old car is in the Tial booth with For Sale written on it....$70K for the roller. His new car looks awesome. Just spoke with Javier, and they are still finalizing the details for the release. Will not be announced at PRI.
Congrats to Ara
Maybe Steph will get his head on straight and sit his butt in that AEM Dragster. It is bad for the sport to lose him...especially to drifting
He is the import drag racing icon. It will be sad without him.

Just so you all know, I don't believe that Steph actually was in charge of making the decision to leave drag racing, if you know what I mean....

I wouldn't think he was "asked" to leave - more like asked to concentrate more on the drifting side of the things. Working on the car, getting more seat time, campaigning at all the events nationwide next year, etc.
Whether we like it or not, drifting is getting good press. AEM will get press regardless on the drag car whether or not Steph's behind the wheel. I'm sure someone can only pull double duty and travel that much for so long.
But then again I could be completely wrong, Papadakis could just be a machine comprised of nuts and bolts and AEM inserted him with a new program for 2006

Correct. Marketing dollars and marketing appeal are the drivers of this situation. Steph is a smart guy and holds a large reputation, so people respect him no matter what he does, but sometimes leverage can be used to make people move. I will miss Steph at the drags, but remember, that doesn't mean he is gone forever
