01 civic lx cam lobes
whats up people. i need some quick help. christmas is close and i need to do some research before it hits.
i have an 01' civic lx...D17a motor. i would like to find out the best upgrade for cam lobes...brand, stage, size...things i shoulg upgrade along with a cam upgrade, things like that. but where i'm at with my motor, i heard the best thing for me to do next is the cam lobes...so help me out please.

there are not many(or none at all most likely) people doing cam upgrades on these engines..the best thing to is to have it removed and then a cam grinder can smallen up the base circle for you, but really, i doubt it will be to any advantage for you since the engine was made with fuel economy in mind and not so much performance...You're better off saving your money and swapping a K-series in it
if you do plan on grinding the cam you would have to upgrade the fuel system, exhaust system, intake system etc...also find somekind of software to upgrade the ecu(i really doubt there's any for this model civic engine) to take fuel advantage of the cam and its new profiles..
BTW: I have seen a rod out the side of a D17 block at work..the owner was "racing" for sure...didnt take much for the rod to break and ruin the whole engine...keep that in mind...the stroke and bore of the engine wasnt made with performance in mind at all..the pistons/bore size is very small meaning the stroke is pretty long=not rev worthy
